📚 AP Calculus: A Comprehensive Guide to Reading Formulas Aloud in English | AP微积分:公式英语读法规范汇总

In AP Calculus, being able to read mathematical expressions aloud correctly is essential for classroom discussions, presentations, and understanding spoken explanations. This guide systematically introduces the standard English pronunciations of common calculus notations—from limits to series—empowering you to speak the language of mathematics fluently.

在AP微积分中,能够正确朗读数学表达式对于课堂讨论、展示以及理解口头讲解至关重要。本指南系统介绍了从极限到级数的常见微积分符号的标准英语读法,帮助你流畅地讲述数学语言。

1. Limits and Asymptotic Behavior | 极限与渐近行为读法

The fundamental limit notation ‘lim (x→a) f(x)’ is read as “the limit as x goes to a of f of x”. If the limit is one‑sided, we specify the direction: ‘lim (x→a⁺) f(x)’ is “the limit as x approaches a from the right of f of x” (or “from above”), and ‘lim (x→a⁻) f(x)’ is “the limit as x approaches a from the left of f of x” (or “from below”). For limits at infinity, ‘lim (x→∞) f(x)’ is “the limit as x goes to infinity of f of x”, and ‘lim (x→‑∞) f(x)’ is “the limit as x goes to negative infinity of f of x”. When a limit equals a finite number L, we say “the limit is L” or “equals L”. If the limit does not exist, we say “the limit does not exist” (DNE). A typical example: ‘lim (x→2) (x²−4)/(x−2)’ is read “the limit as x goes to 2 of x squared minus 4 over x minus 2”.

基本极限符号 ‘lim (x→a) f(x)’ 读作 “the limit as x goes to a of f of x”。若是单侧极限,需指明方向:’lim (x→a⁺) f(x)’ 读作 “the limit as x approaches a from the right of f of x”(或 from above),’lim (x→a⁻) f(x)’ 读作 “the limit as x approaches a from the left of f of x”(或 from below)。无穷远处的极限 ‘lim (x→∞) f(x)’ 读作 “the limit as x goes to infinity of f of x”,’lim (x→‑∞) f(x)’ 读作 “the limit as x goes to negative infinity of f of x”。若极限等于有限数 L,说 “the limit is L” 或 “equals L”。若极限不存在,说 “the limit does not exist
