Year 7 Cambridge French: Common Mistakes and Corrections | Year 7 Cambridge 法语:常见误区与纠正方法

📚 Year 7 Cambridge French: Common Mistakes and Corrections | Year 7 Cambridge 法语:常见误区与纠正方法

When you start learning French in Year 7, the excitement of a new language often comes with a few predictable slip-ups. Many students trip over the same traps: mixing up pronouns, misusing articles, forgetting agreement, and struggling with word order. This guide collects the most frequent mistakes seen in Cambridge Secondary 1 French and shows you clear, simple ways to put them right. By spotting the errors early, you can build strong habits and gain confidence quickly.

开始学习法语时,七年级学生常常会掉进一些共同的‘坑’里:人称代词混淆、冠词错用、忽略性数配合、语序错误等。这篇文章收集了剑桥初中法语中最常见的误区,并给出清晰、简单的纠正方法。早点认出这些错误,你就能迅速养成正确习惯,自信地用法语表达。

1. Subject Pronoun Confusion | 主语人称代词混淆

A very early mistake is using tu for everyone because it feels friendlier. In French, tu is only for one person you know well. When speaking to an adult you don’t know, a teacher, or more than one person, you must use vous. Another common slip is mixing up il/elle and ils/elles – the plural forms sound different in the verb but are often written with a missing -s on the pronoun or a missing -ent on the verb.

一个很早出现的误区是把‘tu’用于所有人,因为它听起来很亲切。在法语里,tu 只用于一个熟人。和不熟悉的成年人、老师或多个人说话时,必须用 vous。另一个常见问题是混淆 il/elleils/elles ——复数形式在动词里听起来不一样,但写作时常会漏掉代词后面的 -s 或动词词尾的 -ent。

Example: ‘Tu es français ?’ said to a headteacher is too casual. Correct: ‘Vous êtes français ?’ Also, ‘Il parle’ (he speaks) vs ‘Ils parlent’ (they speak). Remember to add the -s for plural subject when writing.

例如:对校长说 ‘Tu es français ?’ 太随便了。正确说法是 ‘Vous êtes français ?’ 另外,‘Il parle’(他说)与 ‘Ils parlent’(他们说),写作时别忘了加上复数的 -s 和 -ent。

2. Verb Conjugation – Regular -er Verbs | 动词变位 – 规则 -er 动词

The largest group of French verbs ends in -er, such as parler, aimer, regarder. A classic mistake is leaving the infinitive ending attached to the subject: je parler instead of je parle. Learners also often invent forms like nous parlont because they hear a nasal sound. The correct present-tense endings are: -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent.

法语里最大一类动词以 -er 结尾,如 parler, aimer, regarder。一个典型错误是把原形词尾直接放在主语后:je parler 而不是 je parle。学生也常会造出 nous parlont 这样的形式,因为他们听到了鼻音。正确的现在时词尾是:-e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent

Practise the pattern aloud:

大声练习这个模式:

  • je parle | I speak / 我说
  • tu parles | you speak (informal) / 你说
  • il/elle/on parle | he/she/one speaks / 他/她/人们说
  • nous parlons | we speak / 我们说
  • vous parlez | you speak (formal/plural) / 您/你们说
  • ils/elles parlent | they speak / 他们说

Tip: the -ent ending is silent. So il parle and ils parlent sound the same, but the written form changes.

提示:-ent 词尾不发音。因此 il parleils parlent 听起来一样,但拼写不同。

3. Definite and Indefinite Articles | 定冠词与不定冠词

English has ‘the’ and ‘a/an’, but French articles agree in gender and number. Common errors: saying le maison (house is feminine) or un amie instead of une amie. Plurals also cause trouble: les chiens means ‘the dogs’, while des chiens means ‘some dogs’ or just ‘dogs’ in a general sense. Many beginners drop articles entirely, but French almost always needs them.

英语有 ‘the’ 和 ‘a/an’,但法语冠词要配合名词的性和数。常见错误:说 le maison(maison 是阴性),或 un amie 而不是 une amie。复数也容易出错:les chiens 是‘那些狗’,des chiens 是‘一些狗’或泛指‘狗’。很多初学者完全不写冠词,但法语几乎总需要冠词。

Definite articles: le (masc. sing.), la (fem. sing.), l’ (before a vowel or silent h), les (plural). Indefinite: un (masc.), une (fem.), des (plural). Always learn the article with the noun: la maison, le stylo, une école, des enfants.

定冠词:le(阳性单数),la(阴性单数),l’(元音或哑音 h 前),les(复数)。不定冠词:un(阳性),une(阴性),des(复数)。始终和名词一起记住冠词:la maison, le stylo, une école, des enfants

4. Adjective Agreement | 形容词性数一致

Adjectives must match the noun in gender and number, yet students often write un garçon intelligent and then wrongly use the same form for a girl: une fille intelligent. The correct feminine usually adds -e: une fille intelligente. If the adjective already ends in -e, it stays the same for masculine and feminine: un élève timide / une élève timide. Plurals add -s: des garçons intelligents, des filles intelligentes.

形容词要与名词的性数一致,但学生常常写了 un garçon intelligent,然后错误地把同样的形式用在女孩身上:une fille intelligent。正确的阴性通常加 -eune fille intelligente。若形容词本身以 -e 结尾,则阳性和阴性同形:un élève timide / une élève timide。复数加 -sdes garçons intelligents, des filles intelligentes

Watch out for irregular adjectives: beau/belle, nouveau/nouvelle, vieux/vieille. Saying ‘un beau chanteuse’ is incorrect; it must be ‘une belle chanteuse’. Colour adjectives also follow the noun and agree: une voiture bleue, des stylos noirs.

注意不规则的形容词:beau/bellenouveau/nouvellevieux/vieille。说 ‘un beau chanteuse’ 是不对的,得是 ‘une belle chanteuse’。颜色形容词通常放在名词后且要配合:une voiture bleue, des stylos noirs

5. Gender of Nouns | 名词阴阳性

There is no shortcut to learning noun gender, but learners often assume words ending in -e are always feminine. This leads to mistakes like la musée (it’s le musée). Other tricky ones: le problème (masculine, despite -e), la page (feminine). A better strategy is to spot patterns: nouns ending in -tion, -sion, -té, -ette are usually feminine; nouns ending in -age, -eau, -ment tend to be masculine.

名词阴阳性没有捷径,但学习者常误以为以 -e 结尾的词都是阴性。于是会犯 la musée 这样的错误(其实是 le musée)。其他易错词还有 le problème(阳性,虽然有 -e)、la page(阴性)。更好的办法是发现规律:以 -tion, -sion, -té, -ette 结尾的名词通常是阴性;以 -age, -eau, -ment 结尾的多为阳性。

When you learn a new noun, always write it with un or une: une table, un livre, une forêt, un hôpital. This trains your ear and your memory together. Even native speakers learnt this way.

每学一个新名词,总要带 unune 一起记:une table, un livre, une forêt, un hôpital。这样能让耳朵和记忆同步。法语母语者也是这样学的。

6. Negation: ne … pas | 否定式:ne … pas 的错用

To make a sentence negative, French wraps the verb with ne … pas. Beginners often drop the ne in speech (which can be casual, but writing requires it) or place pas before the verb, mimicking English order: je pas aime. The correct structure is je n’aime pas. With a vowel, ne becomes n’.

法语否定句要把动词包在 ne … pas 中间。初学者经常在说话时丢掉 ne(口语中有时可以,但书面必须保留),或者把 pas 放在动词前,仿照英语语序:je pas aime。正确结构是 je n’aime pas。碰到元音,ne 变成 n’

Examples: Je ne parle pas anglais. Elle n’habite pas ici. Nous ne regardons pas la télé. Note that in compound tenses (which you may meet later), the second element pas goes after the auxiliary: je n’ai pas mangé.

例如:Je ne parle pas anglais. Elle n’habite pas ici. Nous ne regardons pas la télé. 注意,在复合时态里(可能以后会学到),pas 放在助动词后:je n’ai pas mangé

7. Forming Questions | 疑问句构成

Students often rely only on rising intonation: Tu aimes le sport ? While this is acceptable in informal speech, Cambridge expects you also to use est-ce que and inversion. A common error is half-finishing the inversion: Aimes-tu le sport ? is correct, but Tu aimes-tu ? is wrong. Another error is forgetting the hyphen in inversions: Parlez vous should be Parlez-vous.

In written French, always use the inversion or est-ce que for clarity.

练习三种方式:1)语调:Tu aimes le foot ? 2)Est-ce que:Est-ce que tu aimes le foot ? 3)倒装:Aimes-tu le foot ? 在书面法语中,为清晰起见,要使用倒装或 est-ce que。

8. Prepositions with Places (à, en, au, aux) | 地点介词

Talking about going to a place confuses many Year 7 learners. The general rule: for cities, use à: Je vais à Paris. For feminine countries (most ending in -e), use en: Je vais en France. For masculine countries, use au: Je vais au Canada. For plural countries, use aux: Je vais aux États-Unis. Errors like Je vais à France or Je vais en Canada are very common.

谈论去某个地点时,七年级学生常常混淆。一般规则:城市前用 àJe vais à Paris。阴性国名(大多数以 -e 结尾)用 enJe vais en France。阳性国名用 auJe vais au Canada。复数国名用 auxJe vais aux États-Unis。像 Je vais à FranceJe vais en Canada 这样的错误非常普遍。

Also note that en is used for feminine regions and some islands: en Normandie, en Corse. For saying you are in a place, the same logic applies: Je suis à Londres, en Espagne, au Portugal, aux Pays-Bas.

还要注意,en 也用于阴性地区和一些岛屿:en Normandie, en Corse。表达在某地时,逻辑相同:Je suis à Londres, en Espagne, au Portugal, aux Pays-Bas

9. Numbers and Pronunciation | 数字与发音陷阱

Numbers can be tricky not just in spelling but in pronunciation. Learners often pronounce the final consonant when it should be silent, or miss the liaison. For example, six and dix – the x is silent when the number stands alone or before a consonant (six livres pronounced ‘si livre’), but pronounced [z] in liaison before a vowel (six amis ‘siz ami’). Another error: saying cent with a hard t sound; the t is never pronounced in cent.

数字不仅在拼写上有难度,发音也容易出错。学生常在本该不发音的辅音上发音,或漏掉联诵。例如 sixdix ——单独使用或在辅音前时,x 不发音(six livres 读作 ‘si livre’),但在元音前要联诵,发 [z] 音(six amis ‘siz ami’)。另一个错误是把 cent 的 t 读出来,实际上 t 从不发音。

Watch out for vingt – the t is silent everywhere except in 22 to 29 (vingt-deux pronounced with a t). Also numbers like soixante-dix, quatre-vingts must be learnt as set phrases. Practise saying: 70 soixante-dix, 71 soixante et onze, 80 quatre-vingts, 90 quatre-vingt-dix until they feel natural.

留意 vingt ——t 通常不发音,但在 22 到 29 中发音(vingt-deux 中的 t 要读)。像 soixante-dix, quatre-vingts 这样的数字要当作固定短语来记。反复练习朗读:70 soixante-dix, 71 soixante et onze, 80 quatre-vingts, 90 quatre-vingt-dix,直到脱口而出。

10. False Friends | 假朋友词汇

False friends are words that look English but mean something completely different in French. Taking the English meaning leads to embarrassing or confusing sentences. Classic examples: librairie is not ‘library’ but a bookshop; the library is bibliothèque. Actuellement means ‘currently’, not ‘actually’. Assister à means ‘to attend’, not to assist. Attendre means ‘to wait’, not to attend. Mixing these up can change the entire message.

假朋友是指那些看起来像英语,但在法语中意思完全不同的单词。照搬英文含义会写出令人尴尬或混乱的句子。典型例子:librairie 不是‘图书馆’,而是‘书店’;图书馆是 bibliothèqueActuellement 意思是‘目前’,而不是‘实际上’。Assister à 是‘参加’,不是‘协助’。Attendre 是‘等待’,不是‘参加’。混淆这些词会彻底改变句子大意。

Keep a running list: car (because, not a vehicle – though voiture is car), sensible (sensitive, not sensible), large (wide, not large), monnaie (loose change, not money in general). When reading, always check if the familiar-looking word makes sense in the French context.

建议你列一个不断增长的清单:car(因为,而不是汽车——汽车是 voiture),sensible(敏感的,而非‘明智的’),large(宽的,而非‘大的’),monnaie(零钱,而非泛指金钱)。阅读时,要经常检查那些眼熟的词在法语语境中是否通顺。

By focusing on these ten frequent error areas, you can sharpen your written and spoken French from the very start. Keep a notebook of your own common mistakes, correct them regularly, and soon the correct forms will feel automatic. Bon courage !
