Politics comes from the Greek word ‘polis’, meaning city-state. In modern terms, politics is the activity through which people make, share and challenge rules in a community. It is not just about government ministers – it happens at school councils, in families and whenever people negotiate or debate decisions that affect everyone. Remember the 3 Ps: People, Power and Policies. Where there are people, there are power relationships; where there is power, there are policies.
