1. The Spanish-Speaking World and Why Learn Spanish | 西语世界与学习西班牙语的理由

Spanish is the official language in 21 countries, including Spain, Mexico, Argentina, and many others across Latin America. Learning Spanish opens doors to understanding diverse cultures, music, food, and traditions. For a Year 7 student, it also improves your ability to learn other languages in the future, as many European languages share Latin roots. Additionally, knowing Spanish can be a great advantage in travel and future career opportunities, since it is one of the most widely spoken native languages on the planet.

西班牙语是 21 个国家的官方语言,包括西班牙、墨西哥、阿根廷以及拉丁美洲的许多其他国家。学习西班牙语为了解多元的文化、音乐、美食和传统打开了大门。对七年级学生来说,它还能提升你未来学习其他语言的能力,因为许多欧洲语言都有相同的拉丁语根源。此外,掌握西班牙语在旅行和未来的职业机会中可能是一个巨大的优势,因为它是世界上使用人数最多的母语之一。

Starting early gives you the chance to absorb the sounds and rhythm of the language naturally. Unlike many other school subjects, language learning is a gradual process that benefits enormously from short, frequent practice. Even 10 to 15 minutes a day during the summer can make a noticeable difference. The WJEC syllabus in Year 7 focuses on communication and building confidence, so your holiday preview will directly complement what you will do in class.

尽早开始能让你自然地吸收语言的发音和节奏。与许多其他学科不同,语言学习是一个渐进的过程,从短时间、多次的练习中获益极大。暑假期间即使每天只花 10 到 15 分钟,也能带来明显的变化。七年级的 WJEC 教学大纲侧重于沟通和建立信心,因此你的假期预习将直接补充课堂上的学习内容。

2. The Spanish Alphabet: Letters and Sounds | 西班牙语字母表:字母与发音

The Spanish alphabet consists of 27 letters, including the unique letter ‘ñ’ (eñe). Each letter has a specific name, and learning them helps with spelling and pronunciation later on. For example, ‘a’ is pronounced ‘a’, ‘b’ is ‘be’, ‘c’ is ‘ce’ (before ‘e’ or ‘i’ it sounds like ‘th’ in most of Spain, or like ‘s’ in Latin America), and ‘z’ is ‘zeta’. It is much easier to read Spanish once you know the sounds because the spelling is very regular.

西班牙语字母表由 27 个字母组成,包括独特的字母 ‘ñ’(eñe)。每个字母都有一个特定的名称,学习它们有助于将来的拼写和发音。例如,’a’ 读作 ‘a’,’b’ 是 ‘be’,’c’ 是 ‘ce’(在西班牙大部分地区,’c’ 在 ‘e’ 或 ‘i’ 前发 ‘th’ 音,在拉丁美洲则发 ‘s’ 音),而 ‘z’ 是 ‘zeta’。一旦你掌握了发音,阅读西班牙语就会容易得多,因为其拼写非常有规律。

You do not need to memorise all the letter names at once. Instead, try to associate each letter with a word you already know, such as ‘A de amigo’ or ‘B de bonito’. The table below shows the 27 letters and a useful example word for each. Say each letter aloud as you read, and pay special attention to the vowels, which are always pronounced clearly and consistently.

你不需要一下子背出所有字母的名称。可以试着把每个字母与你已经知道的单词联系起来,比如 ‘A de amigo’ 或 ‘B de bonito’。下表列出了 27 个字母以及每个字母的一个有用的例词。边读边大声念出每个字母,并特别注意元音,因为元音总是清晰、一致地发音。

Letter Name Example
A a amigo (friend)
B be bueno (good)
C ce casa (house)
D de dedo (finger)
E e escuela (school)
F efe familia (family)
G ge gato (cat)
H hache hola (hello)
I i idea (idea)
J jota jugar (to play)
K ka kilo (kilo)
L ele lápiz (pencil)
M eme madre (mother)
N ene noche (night)
Ñ eñe niño (boy/child)
O o oso (bear)
P pe perro (dog)
Q cu queso (cheese)
R erre rojo (red)
S ese sol (sun)
T te tarde (afternoon)
U u uva (grape)
V uve vaca (cow)
W doble uve wifi (wifi)
X equis xilófono (xylophone)
Y ye yo (I)
Z zeta zapato (shoe)

3. Pronunciation Basics: Vowels and Tricky Consonants | 发音基础:元音与难辅音

Spanish vowels are your best friends because they have exactly one sound each, regardless of the word they appear in. The vowel ‘a’ always sounds like the ‘a’ in ‘father’, ‘e’ like the ‘e’ in ‘bed’, ‘i’ like ‘ee’ in ‘see’, ‘o’ like the ‘o’ in ‘hot’, and ‘u’ like ‘oo’ in ‘food’. This consistency means you can read any Spanish word correctly once you learn these five sounds. Practise saying ‘casa’, ‘mesa’, ‘vino’, ‘loco’, and ‘luna’ until you feel the clean, pure vowels on your tongue.

西班牙语的元音是你最好的朋友,因为每个元音无论出现在哪个单词中都只有一个发音。元音 ‘a’ 总是像 ‘father’ 中的 ‘a’ 那样发音,’e’ 像 ‘bed’ 中的 ‘e’,’i’ 像 ‘see’ 中的 ‘ee’,’o’ 像 ‘hot’ 中的 ‘o’,而 ‘u’ 像 ‘food’ 中的 ‘oo’。这种一致性意味着一旦你学会了这五个音,你就能正确读出任何西班牙语单词。练习说 ‘casa’、’mesa’、’vino’、’loco’ 和 ‘luna’,直到你能感受到舌头上干净、纯粹的元音。

Some consonants can be tricky because they behave differently from English. The letter ‘h’ is always silent: ‘hola’ sounds like ‘ola’. The combination ‘ll’ often sounds like the English ‘y’ in ‘yes’ (though it varies by region). The letter ‘j’ makes a strong ‘h’ sound as in ‘jalapeño’. The rolled ‘rr’ in words like ‘perro’ takes practice, but you can start by repeating ‘erre’ with a flick of the tongue. Do not worry about perfection right away; familiarity will grow with time.

4. Greetings and Basic Courtesy Phrases | 问候与基本礼貌用语

Greetings are the first thing we learn in any language, and Spanish greetings are full of warmth and rhythm. You probably already know ‘¡Hola!’ which means ‘Hello’. Depending on the time of day, you can say ‘Buenos días’ (Good morning), ‘Buenas tardes’ (Good afternoon), or ‘Buenas noches’ (Good evening/night). To ask someone how they are, use ‘¿Cómo estás?’ (informal) or ‘¿Cómo está usted?’ (formal). A typical answer is ‘Muy bien, gracias’ (Very well, thank you) or ‘Bien, ¿y tú?’ (Fine, and you?).

Politeness also involves saying ‘por favor’ (please), ‘gracias’ (thank you), ‘de nada’ (you’re welcome), and ‘perdón’ (sorry/excuse me). Practise these with family members or in front of the mirror. A good activity is to write a short comic strip where two characters greet each other and use at least three of these expressions. The more you use them, the more automatic they will become when you walk into your first Spanish class.

礼貌用语还包括 ‘por favor’(请)、’gracias’(谢谢)、’de nada’(不客气)和 ‘perdón’(对不起/打扰一下)。可以与家人练习或对着镜子练习。一个好方法是写一个简短的四格漫画,让两个角色互相问候并使用其中至少三种表达方式。你用得越多,当你走进第一节西班牙语课堂时,它们就会变得越自然。

¡Hola! Buenos días. ¿Cómo estás? — Muy bien, gracias. ¿Y tú?

5. Introducing Yourself: Name, Age, and Origin | 自我介绍:姓名、年龄与来自哪里

In Year 7, you will be expected to give basic information about yourself. To say your name, use ‘Me llamo…’ (My name is…). To ask someone else, say ‘¿Cómo te llamas?’ (What is your name?). For age, you need the verb ‘tener’ (to have) because in Spanish you ‘have’ years, not ‘are’ years. ‘Tengo once años’ means ‘I am 11 years old’. Ask ‘¿Cuántos años tienes?’ to find out someone’s age. The numbers 1 to 15 are especially useful here.

在七年级,你将需要用西班牙语介绍自己的基本信息。介绍名字时,用 ‘Me llamo…’(我叫……)。询问别人时,说 ‘¿Cómo te llamas?’(你叫什么名字?)。说到年龄,你需要动词 ‘tener’(有),因为在西班牙语中你 ‘有’ 岁数,而不是 ‘是’ 岁数。’Tengo once años’ 意思是 ‘我 11 岁’。用 ‘¿Cuántos años tienes?’ 来询问某人的年龄。数字 1 到 15 在这里特别有用。

To say where you are from, use ‘Soy de…’ (I am from…), as in ‘Soy de Gales’ (I am from Wales) or ‘Soy de Inglaterra’ (I am from England). You might also learn the names of cities, like ‘Soy de Cardiff’. You can combine these sentences into a short paragraph: ‘Hola, me llamo Alex. Tengo doce años y soy de Swansea.’ Challenge yourself to write a short introduction about you and a friend, then read it aloud with confidence.

要说明你来自哪里,可以用 ‘Soy de…’(我来自……),例如 ‘Soy de Gales’(我来自威尔士)或 ‘Soy de Inglaterra’(我来自英格兰)。你也可以学习城市的名称,比如 ‘Soy de Cardiff’。你可以把这些句子组合成一小段话:’Hola, me llamo Alex. Tengo doce años y soy de Swansea.’ 挑战一下自己,写一段关于你和一位朋友的简短自我介绍,然后自信地大声朗读出来。

6. Numbers 0–31 and How to Tell the Date | 数字 0 到 31 与如何表达日期

Numbers are vital for giving your age, sharing telephone numbers, and talking about dates. Start from 0 to 15: cero, uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once, doce, trece, catorce, quince. Then 16 to 19 are created by combining ‘dieci’ and the unit: dieciséis (16), diecisiete (17), etc. The tens are veinte (20), with 21 being ‘veintiuno’, and then treinta (30). To practise, try counting the objects around your room in Spanish.

数字对于表达年龄、分享电话号码和谈论日期至关重要。先从 0 到 15 开始:cero, uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once, doce, trece, catorce, quince。16 到 19 由 ‘dieci’ 加上个位数构成:dieciséis(16)、diecisiete(17)等。十位数有 veinte(20),21 是 ‘veintiuno’,然后 treinta(30)。为了练习,可以试着用西班牙语数一数你房间里的物品。

Once you know the numbers, you can talk about the days of the week and months. The days are: lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado, domingo. Notice they are not capitalised in Spanish. To ask the date, use ‘¿Cuál es la fecha?’ and answer ‘Es el cinco de julio’, for example. Culture point: in many Spanish-speaking countries, the date is written in the order day-month-year, so 05/07/2025 is 5 July 2025, not 7 May. This awareness will help you interpret written texts correctly.

掌握数字之后,你就可以谈论星期几和月份了。星期是:lunes(星期一)、martes(星期二)、miércoles(星期三)、jueves(星期四)、viernes(星期五)、sábado(星期六)、domingo(星期日)。注意它们在西班牙语中不大写。要问日期,用 ‘¿Cuál es la fecha?’,然后回答 ‘Es el cinco de julio’,例如。文化提示:在许多西语国家,日期的书写顺序是日-月-年,因此 05/07/2025 指的是 2025 年 7 月 5 日,而不是 5 月 7 日。了解这一点将有助于你正确理解书面文本。

7. Colours and Descriptions | 颜色与描述

Colours bring Spanish to life and are a great way to start describing the world around you. The basic colour words are: rojo (red), azul (blue), verde (green), amarillo (yellow), negro (black), blanco (white), naranja (orange), rosa (pink), morado (purple), gris (grey), and marrón (brown). In Spanish, colours usually come after the noun they describe: ‘un coche rojo’ (a red car). This word order is different from English, so it requires some practice.

颜色让西班牙语变得生动,也是开始描述周围世界的绝佳方式。基本颜色词有:rojo(红色)、azul(蓝色)、verde(绿色)、amarillo(黄色)、negro(黑色)、blanco(白色)、naranja(橙色)、rosa(粉色)、morado(紫色)、gris(灰色)和 marrón(棕色)。在西班牙语中,颜色通常放在它们所修饰的名词之后:’un coche rojo’(一辆红色的汽车)。这种语序与英语不同,因此需要一些练习。

An important grammar point you will meet early in WJEC is that colours must agree with the noun in gender and number. For example, ‘rojo’ changes to ‘roja’ for feminine nouns: ‘una casa roja’. ‘Azul’ can become ‘azules’ for plural: ‘dos coches azules’. Words like ‘naranja’ and ‘rosa’ are invariable and stay the same. To begin with, simply learn the base word and then listen out for the changes when you hear or read new sentences.

在 WJEC 课程中,你会很早就遇到一个重要语法点:颜色必须在
