1. Present Tense Verb Conjugation Formula | 动词现在时变位公式

Remove the -en from the infinitive to find the stem, then add the correct ending for each person. This is the most fundamental formula in German.

去掉动词原形的 -en 得到词干,然后为每个人称加上正确的词尾。这是德语中最基础的公式。

The standard formula for regular verbs (e.g. spielen, machen) is: stem + (e, st, t, en, t, en). For verbs like wohnen (stem ending in -d, -t, -n) we add an extra ‘e’ before -st and -t to make them pronounceable.

规则动词(如 spielen、machen)的标准公式为:词干 + (e, st, t, en, t, en)。对于词干以 -d、-t、-n 结尾的动词(如 wohnen),我们在 -st 和 -t 前多加一个 ‘e’,以便发音。

Person Ending spielen (to play) wohnen (to live)
ich (I) -e ich spiele ich wohne
du (you, sing. inf.) -st (-est) du spielst du wohnst
er/sie/es (he/she/it) -t (-et) er spielt er wohnt
wir (we) -en wir spielen wir wohnen
ihr (you, pl. inf.) -t (-et) ihr spielt ihr wohnt
sie/Sie (they/you formal) -en sie spielen sie wohnen

Many strong verbs (e.g. lesen, sehen, fahren) change the stem vowel in the du and er/sie/es forms. For example, lesen becomes du liest, er liest; fahren becomes du fährst, er fährt. Always learn these vowel changes by heart.

许多强变化动词(如 lesen、sehen、fahren)在 du 和 er/sie/es 形式中会改变词干元音。例如,lesen 变成 du liest、er liest;fahren 变成 du fährst、er fährt。务必牢记这些元音变化。

2. The Core Verbs haben and sein | 核心动词 haben 和 sein

The verbs haben (to have) and sein (to be) are irregular and appear in a huge number of sentences. Their present-tense forms must be memorised as they break every pattern.

动词 haben(有)和 sein(是)是不规则动词,出现在大量句子中。它们的现在时形式必须牢记,因为它们打破了所有模式。

Conjugation of haben: ich habe, du hast, er/sie/es hat, wir haben, ihr habt, sie/Sie haben. Note the loss of ‘b’ in du hast and er hat.

haben 的变位:ich habe, du hast, er/sie/es hat, wir haben, ihr habt, sie/Sie haben。注意 du hast 和 er hat 中 ‘b’ 的消失。

Conjugation of sein: ich bin, du bist, er/sie/es ist, wir sind, ihr seid, sie/Sie sind.

sein 的变位:ich bin, du bist, er/sie/es ist, wir sind, ihr seid, sie/Sie sind。

3. Separable Verbs – The Detachable Prefix Formula | 可分动词——可分离前缀公式

Many German verbs have a prefix that separates and moves to the very end of the clause. The formula: in a main clause, the prefix goes to the end while the conjugated verb stays in second position.

许多德语动词带有一个前缀,该前缀会分离并移到从句的末尾。公式:在主句中,前缀移到句末,而变位动词保持在第二位。

Example with aufstehen (to get up): Ich stehe jeden Tag um 7 Uhr auf. The prefix ‘auf’ travels to the end. If you use a modal verb, the separable verb stays together at the end in the infinitive: Ich muss um 7 Uhr aufstehen.

以 aufstehen(起床)为例:Ich stehe jeden Tag um 7 Uhr auf。前缀 ‘auf’ 移至句末。如果使用情态动词,可分动词则在句末以原形连写:Ich muss um 7 Uhr aufstehen。

Common separable prefixes: auf-, zu-, an-, mit-, ein-, fern-, vor-. Always check whether a prefix is separable or inseparable (be-, ver-, er- never separate).

常见的可分前缀:auf-、zu-、an-、mit-、ein-、fern-、vor-。注意区分前缀是否可分(be-、ver-、er- 从不分离)。

4. Modal Verb Framework Formula | 情态动词框架公式

Modal verbs (können, müssen, wollen, dürfen, sollen, mögen/möchten) modify the meaning of a main verb. The formula: modal verb goes in second position (conjugated), and the main verb is pushed to the end in the infinitive.

情态动词(können、müssen、wollen、dürfen、sollen、mögen/möchten)修饰主要动词的含义。公式:情态动词在第二位(变位形式),主要动词被推到句末以原形出现。

Example: Ich will ins Kino gehen. Here ‘will’ is the conjugated modal, ‘gehen’ is the infinitive at the end.

示例:Ich will ins Kino gehen。这里 ‘will’ 是变位的情态动词,’gehen’ 是句末的原形动词。

Modal verbs have irregular vowel changes in singular: können – ich kann, du kannst, er kann; müssen – ich muss, du musst, er muss; dürfen – ich darf, du darfst, er darf. The ich and er/sie/es forms are often identical and drop the umlaut or change vowel.

情态动词单数时有不规则的元音变化:können – ich kann, du kannst, er kann;müssen – ich muss, du musst, er muss;dürfen – ich darf, du darfst, er darf。ich 和 er/sie/es 形式常常相同,且变音或元音发生变化。

5. The Verb-Second Position Rule | 动词第二位定理

The golden rule of German word order: in a main clause, the conjugated verb is always the second idea (not necessarily the second word). This principle gives German its characteristic rhythm.

德语语序的黄金法则:在主句中,变位动词始终是第二个成分(不一定是第二个单词)。这一原则赋予了德语独特的节奏。

Example: Heute gehe ich ins Kino. (Today I’m going to the cinema.) ‘Heute’ is the first idea, ‘gehe’ is the verb in position two, then the subject ‘ich’ follows.

示例:Heute gehe ich ins Kino。(今天我去看电影。)’Heute’ 是第一成分,动词 ‘gehe’ 在第二位,然后主语 ‘ich’ 紧随其后。

Even with longer expressions, the verb stays in second position: Am Wochenende spiele ich mit meinen Freunden Fußball. The time phrase ‘Am Wochenende’ counts as one idea.

即使有更长的表达,动词仍保持在第二位:Am Wochenende spiele ich mit meinen Freunden Fußball。时间短语 ‘Am Wochenende’ 算作一个成分。

6. Question Formula – Yes/No and W-Questions | 疑问句公式——一般疑问句与特殊疑问句

Forming questions in German follows two reliable patterns.

德语的疑问句有两种可靠的模式。

Yes/No questions: the conjugated verb moves to the first position, followed by the subject and then the rest of the sentence. Formula: Verb + subject + … ? Example: Spielst du Tennis? Haben Sie Zeit?

一般疑问句:变位动词移到第一位,后接主语和其余部分。公式:动词 + 主语 + … ? 示例:Spielst du Tennis? Haben Sie Zeit?

W-questions (who, what, where, when, why, how): the question word comes first, then the verb in second position, then the subject and so on. Formula: Fragewort + Verb + Subjekt + … ? Example: Wann gehst du nach Hause? Was machst du am Samstag?

特殊疑问句(谁、什么、哪里、何时、为什么、如何):疑问词在第一位,动词在第二位,后接主语等。公式:疑问词 + 动词 + 主语 + … ? 示例:Wann gehst du nach Hause? Was machst du am Samstag?

7. Negation Formula with nicht and kein | 否定公式:nicht 与 kein

To make a sentence negative, we use ‘nicht’ to negate verbs, adjectives or adverbs, and ‘kein’ (which acts like a possessive) to negate nouns that would otherwise have an indefinite article or no article.

否定句子时,我们用 ‘nicht’ 否定动词、形容词或副词,用 ‘kein’(如同物主代词)否定原本带有不定冠词或无冠词的名词。

Formula for nicht: usually placed at the end of the clause or before the part being negated. Example: Ich verstehe das nicht. Er ist nicht groß. If negating a whole sentence, nicht tends to go after the verb complement but before the second part of a separable prefix or infinitive.

nicht 的公式:通常置于从句末尾或被否定部分之前。示例:Ich verstehe das nicht。Er ist nicht groß。当否定整个句子时,nicht 往往放在动词补足语之后,但在可分前缀的第二部分或原形动词之前。

Formula for kein: kein + ending (matching the case and gender of the noun). It replaces ein/eine/einen. Example: Ich habe ein Buch → Ich habe kein Buch. Ich esse einen Apfel → Ich esse keinen Apfel.

kein 的公式:kein + 词尾(与名词的格和性一致)。它取代 ein/eine/einen。示例:Ich habe ein Buch → Ich habe kein Buch。Ich esse einen Apfel → Ich esse keinen Apfel。

8. Definite and Indefinite Article Case Table | 定冠词与不定冠词变格表

Articles change their form depending on the case (nominative, accusative, dative) and gender (masculine, feminine, neuter, plural). Year 8 learners mainly need to master nominative and accusative, with dative introduced for prepositions.

冠词的形式取决于格(主格、宾格、与格)和性(阳性、阴性、中性、复数)。Year 8 学生主要需掌握主格和宾格,与格伴随介词使用。

Definite article ‘the’: Nominative: der (m), die (f), das (n), die (pl). Accusative: den (m), die (f), das (n), die (pl). Dative (preview): dem (m), der (f), dem (n), den (pl).

定冠词“the”:主格:der(阳)、die(阴)、das(中)、die(复)。宾格:den(阳)、die(阴)、das(中)、die(复)。与格(预览):dem(阳)、der(阴)、dem(中)、den(复)。

Indefinite article ‘a/an’: Nominative: ein (m), eine (f), ein (n). Accusative: einen (m), eine (f), ein (n). No plural form for ein; use ‘keine’ or just omit. The same endings apply to possessives like mein, dein, sein.

不定冠词“a/an”:主格:ein(阳)、eine(阴)、ein(中)。宾格:einen(阳)、eine(阴)、ein(中)。ein 没有复数形式;使用 ‘keine’ 或直接省略。相同的词尾适用于物主代词,如 mein、dein、sein。

9. Adjective Endings – The Simple Rule of Thumb | 形容词词尾——简易规则公式

Adjectives change their endings based on the article preceding them and the case/gender of the noun. A quick working formula for Year 8: after der/die/das words, the adjective usually takes -e in nominative singular and -en in all plural and accusative masculine forms. After ein/eine/ein, it takes the definite article’s ending to show the gender/case clearly.

形容词词尾取决于其前面的冠词以及名词的格和性。Year 8 的简易工作公式为:在 der/die/das 类词之后,形容词单数主格通常加 -e,复数及阳性宾格加 -en。在 ein/eine/ein 之后,形容词要带上定冠词的词尾,以明确显示性/格。

Concrete examples: Der gute Freund (nominative masc.), den guten Freund (accusative masc.), die gute Lehrerin (nom./acc. fem.), ein guter Freund (nom. masc.), einen guten Freund (acc. masc.). Remember the ‘weak’ endings after definite articles and the ‘stronger’ endings after indefinite articles.

具体示例:Der gute Freund(主格阳),den guten Freund(宾格阳),die gute Lehrerin(主/宾阴),ein guter Freund(主阳),einen guten Freund(宾阳)。记住定冠词后的“弱变化”词尾和不定冠词后的“强变化”词尾。

10. Preposition Case Triggers – Two-Way Prepositions | 介词格触发——可带双格的介词

Some prepositions always take the accusative (durch, für, gegen, ohne, um) and some always the dative (aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu). The nine two-way prepositions (an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen) follow a spatial rule: accusative for movement/ direction into, dative for static location.

一些介词始终支配宾格(durch、für、gegen、ohne、um),一些始终支配与格(aus、bei、mit、nach、seit、von、zu)。九个带双格的介词(an、auf、hinter、in、neben、über、unter、vor、zwischen)遵循空间规则:表示移动/方向时用宾格,表示静态位置时用与格。

Formula: wo? (where at) + dative; wohin? (where to) + accusative. Example: Ich bin in der Schule (location, dative). Ich gehe in die Schule (direction, accusative). Learn the contraction forms: in + dem = im, an + dem = am, zu + der = zur, zu + dem = zum.

公式:wo?(在哪里)用与格;wohin?(去哪里)用宾格。示例:Ich bin in der Schule(位置,与格)。Ich gehe in die Schule(方向,宾格)。掌握缩合形式:in + dem = im,an + dem = am,zu + der = zur,zu + dem = zum。

11. Coordinating and Subordinating Conjunctions – The Verb Position Shift | 并列连词与从属连词——动词位置变换公式

Conjunctions like und, aber, oder, denn do not change word order; a normal main clause follows. But subordinating conjunctions (weil, dass, wenn, ob, obwohl) send the conjugated verb to the very end of the clause.

连词如 und、aber、oder、denn 不改变语序,其后跟正常的主句。但是从属连词(weil、dass、wenn、ob、obwohl)会把变位动词送到从句的末尾。

Formula for weil/dass: subject + rest + conjugated verb at the end. Example: Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin. (I’m staying at home because I am sick.) The verb ‘bin’ goes to the end.

weil/dass 公式:主语 + 其余成分 + 变位动词在末尾。示例:Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin。(我待在家,因为我病了。)动词 ‘bin’ 位于句末。

If there is a separable verb in the sub clause, the prefix reattaches: …, weil ich um 7 Uhr aufstehe. (aufstehen). Modal verbs also go to the end: …, weil ich ins Kino gehen will.

如果从句中有可分动词,前缀重新连写:…,weil ich um 7 Uhr aufstehe。(aufstehen)。情态动词也移至末尾:…,weil ich ins Kino gehen will。

12. The Time – Manner – Place (TMP) Order Rule | 时间-方式-地点 (TMP) 语序规则

When multiple adverbs or adverbial phrases appear in a sentence, German follows a default sequence: time first, then manner, then place. This TMP rule helps structure longer sentences naturally.

当一个句子中出现多个副词或状语短语时,德语遵循默认的顺序:先说时间,然后是方式,最后是地点。这条 TMP 规则帮助自然地构建长句。

Example: Ich fahre (subject + verb) am Samstag (time) mit dem Bus (manner) nach Berlin (place). Deviating from TMP is possible for emphasis, but for Year 8 it is the safest template.

示例:Ich fahre(主语+动词)am Samstag(时间)mit dem Bus(方式)nach Berlin(地点)。出于强调可以偏离 TMP,但对于 Year 8,这是最稳妥的模板。

If you start with a time phrase to put it in first position, remember the verb-second rule: Am Samstag fahre ich mit dem Bus nach Berlin. The TMP rule still governs the order of the remaining information after the verb.

如果你把时间短语放在第一位,记住动词第二规则:Am Samstag fahre ich mit dem Bus nach Berlin。TMP 规则依然支配动词之后其余信息的顺序。
