1. The S-V-O Formula | 主谓宾公式

The most fundamental Chinese sentence structure mirrors English: Subject + Verb + Object. Unlike English, Chinese does not conjugate verbs for tense or person; the verb form stays constant. This simple formula is the backbone of all declarative sentences.

最基础的汉语句子结构与英语一致:主语 + 动词 + 宾语。与英语不同,汉语动词不因为时态或人称发生变形,形式始终不变。这个简单公式是所有陈述句的骨架。

Formula: S + V + O
公式:主语 + 动词 + 宾语

Example: I eat apples.
例句:我吃苹果。 (Wǒ chī píngguǒ.)

She watches TV.
她看电视。 (Tā kàn diànshì.)

Remember that the subject can often be omitted if it is clear from context, but the basic order remains untouched.

请记住,如果上下文清楚,主语常可省略,但基本顺序不变。

2. Time and Location Sequence Formula | 时间地点顺序公式

In Chinese, adverbials of time and place must appear before the verb, following a specific order: Subject + Time + Place + Verb (+ Object). Placing time or location after the verb is a common error among English speakers. This theorem keeps your descriptions logically organized.

在中文里,时间状语和地点状语必须出现在动词之前,并遵循特定顺序:主语 + 时间 + 地点 + 动词(+宾语)。将时间或地点放在动词之后是英语母语者常犯的错误。这条定理能让你的描述逻辑清晰。

Formula: S + Time + Place + V + O
公式:主语 + 时间 + 地点 + 动词 + 宾语

Example: I study Chinese at school every day.
例句:我每天在学校学中文。 (Wǒ měitiān zài xuéxiào xué Zhōngwén.)

Time words (every day, yesterday, now) always come before the place phrase and the verb. Never translate directly from English ‘I study at school every day’ by keeping the word order; rearrange it to the Chinese logic.

时间词(每天、昨天、现在)总是放在地点短语和动词之前。千万不要按英语语序直译,而要重新调整成中文的逻辑顺序。

3. The 是-Sentence Theorem | 是字句定理

The verb 是 (shì) is used to connect two noun phrases that refer to the same thing or to indicate a category. It is like an equals sign. Note that 是 is not used with adjectives; you cannot say ‘I am tall’ with 是 directly.

动词“是”用来连接指称相同事物或表示类属的两个名词短语,就像等号一样。注意,“是”不能直接和形容词连用,你不可用“是”来说“我是高”。

Formula: N₁ + 是 + N₂
公式:名词₁ + 是 + 名词₂

Example: He is a student.
例句:他是学生。 (Tā shì xuéshēng.)

This is my book.
这是我的书。 (Zhè shì wǒ de shū.)

When negating, always put 不 before 是: 不是. Do not add any other verb between the nouns. For adjectives, you will need a degree adverb like 很, but 是 disappears.

否定时,总是在“是”前加“不”:不是。不要在两个名词之间添加其他动词。对于形容词,你需要用程度副词如“很”,而“是”则要消失。

4. 有-Sentence for Existence | 表示存在的有字句

To express that something exists in a place, or that someone possesses something, use the verb 有 (yǒu). The existence pattern places the location first, followed by 有 and then the object. This is a cornerstone theorem for describing scenes and rooms.

要表达某地存在某物或某人拥有某物,用动词“有”。存在句式将地点放在句首,后接“有”,然后是存在物。这是描写场景和房间的基石定理。

Formula (Existence): Place + 有 + Object
公式(存在):地点 + 有 + 物体

Example: There is a desk in the room.
例句:房间里有一张桌子。 (Fángjiān lǐ yǒu yī zhāng zhuōzi.)

For possession, the formula is Possessor + 有 + Possessed item, e.g. I have a question: 我有一个问题. Note that 没 negates 有, becoming 没有. Never use 不 with 有 in its existential or possessive sense.

对于拥有,公式是拥有者 + 有 + 拥有物,如“我有一个问题”。注意,“没”否定“有”,变成“没有”。在表示存在或拥有时,切勿用“不”来否定有。

5. The 在-Sentence for Position | 表位置的「在」字句

While 有 states that something exists, 在 (zài) pinpoints where a specific known subject is located. The position phrase comes after 在, and the whole sequence appears after the subject, before the verb if there is one. This formula helps you talk about objects, people and events.

“有”陈述某物存在,而“在”则指明已知的特定主语位于何处。位置短语跟在“在”之后,整个序列位于主语之后、动词之前(如果有动词的话)。这个公式帮助你讨论物体、人和事件。

Formula: Subject + 在 + Place (+ Verb)
公式:主语 + 在 + 地点(+动词)

Example: He is at home.
例句:他在家。 (Tā zài jiā.)

Express an action occurring at a location: I eat lunch at school.
表达在某地发生的动作:我在学校吃午饭。 (Wǒ zài xuéxiào chī wǔfàn.)

Do not confuse 在 with 有 for the same meaning. If the sentence starts with a place and you describe a new object, use 有. If the subject is known and you want to say where it is, use 在. This distinction is a vital theorem in Chinese logic.

不要混淆“在”和“有”的用法。如果句子以地点开头,描述新物体,用“有”。如果主语已知,想表达其位置,用“在”。这条区分是中文逻辑的重要定理。

6. The 把-Sentence Formula | 把字句公式

The 把 (bǎ) construction is used to emphasise that an action is done to a specific object, often with a result or change of state. It rearranges the sentence to focus on the disposal of the object. The structure is mandatory with certain verbs and resultative complements in OCR writing tasks.

“把”字句用来强调对特定宾语施加某一动作,往往带有结果或状态变化。它重组句子以聚焦对宾语的处置。在OCR写作任务中,与某些动词和结果补语连用时,“把”字句是必须的结构。

Formula: Subject + 把 + Object + Verb + Complement/Result
公式:主语 + 把 + 宾语 + 动词 + 补语/结果

Example: I finished my homework. (Lit. I -ba- homework – finish – completion)
例句:我把作业写完了。 (Wǒ bǎ zuòyè xiě wán le.)

Another: Close the door. → 把门关上。 (Bǎ mén guān shàng.) Notice that the verb must be followed by some additional element: a result, direction, or duration. Never say 我把门关 alone; it feels incomplete.

另一个:把门关上。注意动词后必须跟随其他成分:结果、方向或时量。不要单独说“我把门关”,那会让人感觉句子不完整。

7. The 被-Sentence Formula | 被字句公式

The 被 (bèi) sentence expresses the passive voice, focusing on the object that undergoes an action. The agent can be omitted if it is unknown or unimportant. In spoken Chinese, 叫 and 让 are often used instead of 被, but 被 is the formal standard for OCR exams.

“被”字句表达被动语态,聚焦于承受动作的宾语。如果施事者未知或不重要,可以省略。在口语中,常用“叫”和“让”代替“被”,但在OCR考试中,“被”是正式标准。

Formula: Object + 被 (+ Agent) + Verb + Complement
公式:宾语 + 被(+施事者)+ 动词 + 补语

Example: The cake was eaten (by me).
例句:蛋糕被(我)吃完了。 (Dàngāo bèi (wǒ) chī wán le.)

The plate was broken.
盘子被打破了。 (Pánzi bèi dǎ pò le.)

Unlike the passive in English, 被 is mainly used for adverse or unexpected events, although its use has expanded. But remember that the agent after 被 is optional, and a complement or 了 is usually required to complete the sentence.

与英语被动不同,“被”主要用于不如意或意外事件,虽然用法已有所扩展。但记住,“被”后的施事者是可选的,且通常需要补语或“了”来完成句子。

8. Comparative Sentences with 比 | 比字比较句

To compare two things in Chinese, use the 比 (bǐ) preposition. The adjective that follows stays in its base form; you never add -er or more. Adverbs like 更 (gèng, even more) or degree complements can modify the comparison. This formula is frequently tested in gap-fill exercises.

用“比”来比较两个事物时,其后的形容词保持原形,绝不添加比较级形式。可用副词“更”或程度补语来修饰比较。这个公式在填空练习中经常被考查。

Formula: A + 比 + B + Adj. (+ Complement)
公式:A + 比 + B + 形容词(+补语)

Example: He is taller than me.
例句:他比我高。 (Tā bǐ wǒ gāo.)

She runs much faster than I do. → 她跑得比我快得多。 (Tā pǎo de bǐ wǒ kuài de duō.) Here, the complement 得多 intensifies the comparison. Do not insert 是 or 很 before the adjective in a 比 sentence unless you are negating.

她跑得比我快得多。这里补语“得多”加深了比较程度。不要在“比”字句中的形容词前加“是”或“很”,除非是否定句。

To negate, use 没有 (méiyǒu): A 没有 B Adj. He is not as tall as me → 他没有我高。

否定用“没有”:A 没有 B 形容词。他没有我高。

9. Question Formulas | 疑问句公式

Chinese yes-no questions are formed by adding 吗 (ma) to the end of a statement. The word order does not change, unlike English inversion. For content questions, question words like 什么 (shénme), 谁 (shéi), 哪 (nǎ), 怎么 (zěnme) are placed exactly where the answer would go. This theorem keeps your questions grammatically safe.

中文是非问句在陈述句末尾加“吗”即可,语序不变,与英语倒装不同。对于特指问句,疑问词如“什么”“谁”“哪”“怎么”就放在答案所应处的位置。这个定理让你的提问语法安全。

Formula (Yes-no): Statement + 吗?
公式(是非问):陈述句 + 吗?

Example: You are a student. → Are you a student?
例句:你是学生。→ 你是学生吗? (Nǐ shì xuéshēng ma?)

Formula (Wh-questions): Subject + Q-word + Verb … (no extra 吗)
公式(特指问):主语 + 疑问词 + 动词…(不加“吗”)

Example: What do you eat?
例句:你吃什么? (Nǐ chī shénme?)

Remember that 呢 can be used for follow-up questions about the same topic: ‘And you? 你呢?’. Never use 吗 and a question word simultaneously; it is a common mistake corrected by this theorem.

记住,“呢”可用于针对同一话题的后续提问:“你呢?”。永远不要同时使用“吗”和疑问词,这是被这个定理纠正的常见错误。

10. Optative Verb Formulas | 能愿动词公式

Optative verbs like 想 (xiǎng, would like to), 会 (huì, can/will be able), 能 (néng, can/be allowed), 可以 (kěyǐ, may/can) express ability, possibility, or willingness. They are placed directly before the main verb and do not need any particle before them. The order never changes, and they can be stacked with other adverbials.

能愿动词如“想、会、能、可以”表达能力、可能或意愿。它们直接放在主要动词之前,前面不需要任何助词。语序从不改变,并且可以与其他状语叠加。

Formula: Subject + Optative Verb + Verb + Object
公式:主语 + 能愿动词 + 动词 + 宾语

Example: I want to eat noodles.
例句:我想吃面条。 (Wǒ xiǎng chī miàntiáo.)

She can speak Chinese.
她会说中文。 (Tā huì shuō Zhōngwén.)

To negate, place 不 before the optative verb: 不想 (don’t want), 不会 (cannot/will not). Note that 不会 means both ‘won’t’ and ‘can’t’, while 不能 implies prohibition or physical impossibility. Distinguishing between 能 and 可以 is a high-level theorem, but for Year 8, treat 可以 as permission and general ability.

否定时将“不”放在能愿动词前:不想、不会。注意,“不会”可意为“won’t”或“can’t”,而“不能”暗示禁止或生理上的不可能。区分“能”和“可以”是高阶定理,但对八年级而言,把“可以”看作许可和一般能力即可。

11. Completion, Duration and Experience: 了, 着, 过 | 时态助词了、着、过用法定理

Chinese uses particles, not verb inflection, to mark aspect. The completion particle 了 (le) is placed after the verb to indicate a finished action. The experiential particle 过 (guo) indicates having had the experience of doing something. The durative particle 着 (zhe) describes a continuous state. Their placement and constraints form a set of theorems you must memorise.

中文用助词而非动词变形来表示体貌。完成助词“了”放在动词后表示动作结束。经历助词“过”表示曾经有过某种经历。持续助词“着”描述状态的持续。它们的位置和限制构成了一套必须记忆的定理。

Verbal 了 formula: Subject + Verb + 了 + Object
动词了公式:主语 + 动词 + 了 + 宾语

Example: I bought a book.
例句:我买了一本书。 (Wǒ mǎi le yī běn shū.)

过 formula: Subject + Verb + 过 + Object
过公式:主语 + 动词 + 过 + 宾语

I have been to China.
我去过中国。 (Wǒ qù guo Zhōngguó.)

着 formula: Subject + Verb + 着 (+ Object)
着公式:主语 + 动词 + 着(+宾语)

The door is open. → 门开着。 (Mén kāi zhe.)
门开着。

Remember the positional theorem: 了 for completed actions cannot be used when the verb is a state verb like 是, 在, 有 unless indicating a change. And 过 never appears in a negative imperative like 不要去过. Such logic keeps your use precise.

记住位置定理:表示完成的“了”不能用在状态动词如“是、在、有”之后,除非表示变化。而“过”从不用于否定祈使句,如不能说“不要去过”。这些逻辑让你的使用精准。

12. Numbers, Measures and Amounts | 数量表达公式

Whenever a number is used with a noun, a measure word must intervene. This is a non-negotiable theorem in Chinese. The formula is Number + Measure Word + Noun. Ordinals are formed by adding 第 before the number. This rule applies to everything from counting objects to expressing price and duration.

每当数字与名词同用时,量词必须介入。这是中文不可妥协的定理。公式为:数字 + 量词 + 名词。序数词通过在数字前加“第”构成。这条规则适用于从计数物体到表达价格和时长的一切。

Formula: Number + Measure Word + Noun
公式:数字 + 量词 + 名词

Example: three books
例句:三本书 (sān běn shū)

two cats → 两只猫 (liǎng zhī māo) Note that 二 changes to 两 in front of measure words for quantity.

两只猫:注意,在量词前表数量时,“二”要变成“两”。

For duration: V + Duration + (的) + O, e.g. I studied Chinese for two hours. → 我学了两个小时的中文。The measure word 个 is added after 小时 because Chinese hours are counted. Money uses 块/元 and 角 with specific measures. Always check the correct measure word for each noun, as they are fixed by convention.

时量补语:动词 + 时长 +(的)+ 宾语,如“我学了两个小时的中文”。由于中文小时是可数的,加了个量词“个”。金额用“块/元”和“角”配合特定量词。始终要核对每个名词对应的量词,因为它们是由习惯固定的。
