1. Understanding the Exam Format | 理解考试形式

The Year 9 CAIE German oral exam typically lasts 6–8 minutes and includes a warm-up, a role-play, a picture description, and a short general conversation. The listening exam runs for about 25–30 minutes, with multiple-choice, gap-fill and short-answer questions based on recordings played twice.

Year 9 CAIE 德语口语考试通常为 6–8 分钟,包括热身问答、角色扮演、图片描述和简短的日常会话。听力考试约 25–30 分钟,题型包括选择题、填空题和简答题,录音会播放两遍。

Mark schemes reward accurate pronunciation, fluent delivery, and the ability to respond naturally. For listening, you are tested on identifying key details, opinions, and the gist of short conversations or announcements.

评分标准看重发音准确、表达流畅和自然应对的能力。听力部分则考查你对关键细节、观点以及简短对话或通知大意的捕捉。

2. Mastering German Vowels and Consonants | 掌握德语元音与辅音

German has a few sounds that are quite different from English. Pay special attention to the umlauts ä, ö, ü and the sharp ß. For example, ‘schön’ (beautiful) is not the same as ‘schon’ (already). The key is to round your lips for ö and ü, and open your mouth wide for ä.

德语中有一些与英语截然不同的发音。尤其要注意变元音 ä、ö、ü 和尖音的 ß。例如,’schön’(美丽的)和 ‘schon’(已经)完全不一样。关键是发 ö 和 ü 时要圆唇,发 ä 时要张大嘴巴。

Vowel Long Sound Example Short Sound Example
a Bahn (railway) Mann (man)
ä Käse (cheese) Männer (men)
ö schön (beautiful) öffnen (to open)
ü fühlen (to feel) fünf (five)

Practise these sounds daily by repeating words after a native speaker recording. Record yourself and compare. For ß, it’s a sharp ‘ss’ as in ‘Straße’ (street). Do not replace it with ‘b’ – it changes the meaning!

每天跟着母语录音跟读这些发音。给自己录音并对比。ß 是清辅音 ‘ss’,如 ‘Straße’(街道),千万不要发成 ‘b’,否则意思会变!

3. Building Topic Vocabulary | 积累话题词汇

Your oral and listening exams revolve around familiar themes: family, school, hobbies, food and drink, holidays, daily routine and health. Having a rich topic word bank makes both speaking and listening much easier. Start with core nouns and verbs, then add adjectives and common phrases.

你的口语和听力考试都围绕熟悉的主题:家庭、学校、爱好、饮食、假期、日常生活和健康。拥有充足的话题词汇库会让说和听都轻松许多。先从核心名词和动词开始,再补充形容词和常用短语。

For ‘family’: die Familie, die Eltern, der Bruder, die Schwester, der Onkel, die Tante. Verbs: wohnen (to live), helfen (to help), feiern (to celebrate). For ‘school’: die Schule, der Lehrer, die Schülerin, das Fach, die Pause. Use them in full sentences: ‘Meine Schwester wohnt in Berlin.’

‘家庭’话题:die Familie, die Eltern, der Bruder, die Schwester, der Onkel, die Tante;动词:wohnen, helfen, feiern。‘学校’话题:die Schule, der Lehrer, die Schülerin, das Fach, die Pause。用完整句子练习:‘Meine Schwester wohnt in Berlin.’

Create flashcards with the German word on one side and a picture or English cue on the other. Group words by topic and test yourself before bed – retrieval practice strengthens memory for the listening exam.

制作抽认卡,一面写德语单词,另一面写图片或英语提示。按话题分组,在睡前自测——提取练习能巩固记忆,对听力考试尤其有帮助。

4. Role-Play: At the Café | 角色扮演:在咖啡馆

In a typical CAIE role-play, you will be given a situation card. One common scenario is ordering food and drinks in a café. The examiner plays the waiter. You must greet, order, ask for the price and say goodbye. Use polite forms: ‘Sie’ rather than ‘du’.

在典型的 CAIE 角色扮演中,你会拿到一张情景卡。常见场景是在咖啡馆点餐。考官扮演服务员。你需要问候、点餐、询问价格并道别。注意使用尊称 ‘Sie’ 而不是 ‘du’。

Waiter: ‘Guten Tag! Was möchten Sie bestellen?’ You: ‘Ich möchte ein Glas Orangensaft und ein belegtes Brötchen mit Käse, bitte.’ Waiter: ‘Sonst noch etwas?’ You: ‘Nein, danke. Was kostet das?’ The ability to handle unpredictable answers, e.g. the waiter saying ‘Tut mir leid, wir haben keinen Käse’, shows real communication skill.

服务员:‘您好!您想点什么?’ 你:‘我想要一杯橙汁和一个奶酪三明治。’ 服务员:‘还需要别的吗?’ 你:‘不用了,谢谢。多少钱?’ 如果你能应对意外回答,如服务员说 ‘对不起,我们没有奶酪了’,就展现出了真正的沟通能力。

Practise with a partner using different menus you have created. Record the dialogue and check for hesitation. Even if you make a grammar mistake, keep going – fluency often beats perfection in a role-play.

和搭档用自制的菜单练习。把对话录下来,检查是否有停顿。即使犯了语法错误,也要继续说下去——在角色扮演中,流畅度往往比完美语法更重要。

5. Describing a Photo | 描述照片

You will be shown a colour photo and asked to describe it in German. Start with a global statement: ‘Auf dem Bild sehe ich …’ (In the picture I see …). Then structure your description: foreground, background, left, right, people, actions, weather and your opinion.

口语中你会看到一张彩色照片,要用德语描述。先用整体陈述开头:‘Auf dem Bild sehe ich …’(图片中我看见……)。然后有条理地描述:前景、背景、左边、右边、人物、动作、天气及你的看法。

Useful phrases: ‘Im Vordergrund gibt es …’ (In the foreground there is …), ‘Im Hintergrund kann man … erkennen’ (In the background one can make out …), ‘Das Wetter ist sonnig/bewölkt’ (The weather is sunny/cloudy), ‘Ich glaube, die Person ist glücklich, weil …’ (I think the person is happy because …).

实用短语:‘Im Vordergrund gibt es …’(前景里有……),‘Im Hintergrund kann man … erkennen’(背景中可以认出……),‘Das Wetter ist sonnig/bewölkt’(天气晴朗/多云),’Ich glaube, die Person ist glücklich, weil …’(我觉得这个人很开心,因为……)。

Spend 30 seconds scanning the photo before speaking. Mention at least three details: what people are wearing, what they are doing and the location. The examiner may then ask a follow-up question like ‘Was würdest du in dieser Situation tun?’ (What would you do in this situation?).

开口前花 30 秒观察照片。至少说出三个细节:人们的穿着、动作和地点。考官可能会追问:‘Was würdest du in dieser Situation tun?’(在这种情况下你会怎么做?)。

6. Asking and Answering Personal Questions | 提问与回答个人信息

The general conversation part tests your ability to talk about yourself. You must be ready for questions like: ‘Wie heißt du?’ (What is your name?), ‘Wie alt bist du?’ (How old are you?), ‘Wo wohnst du?’ (Where do you live?), ‘Hast du Geschwister?’ (Do you have siblings?), ‘Was sind deine Hobbys?’ (What are your hobbies?).

日常对话部分考查你谈论自己的能力。你必须准备好回答:‘你叫什么名字?’、‘你多大?’、‘你住在哪里?’、‘你有兄弟姐妹吗?’、‘你的爱好是什么?’。

Answer in full sentences: ‘Ich heiße Anna und bin vierzehn Jahre alt. Ich wohne in London, aber meine Großeltern leben in Hamburg. Ich habe einen Bruder und eine Schwester. Mein Hobby ist Schwimmen, und ich spiele auch Klavier.’ Avoid one-word answers – the examiner wants to hear you extend.

用完整句子回答:‘我叫安娜,今年十四岁。我住在伦敦,但我的祖父母住在汉堡。我有一个哥哥和一个妹妹。我的爱好是游泳,我还弹钢琴。’ 避免单字回答——考官希望听到你扩展内容。

Also prepare questions you might ask the examiner if the task requires it: ‘Und Sie?’, ‘Wie ist das Wetter heute bei Ihnen?’ (How is the weather where you are?). Practise exchanging information smoothly.

如果题目要求提问,也请准备一些问题:‘您呢?’、‘您那边的天气怎么样?’。练习流畅地交换信息。

7. Listening for Key Information | 听力寻找关键信息

In the listening exam, each recording is played twice. Use the first listening to catch the gist and the second to note specific details. Before the audio starts, read the questions carefully and predict what you might hear. For example, if a question starts with ‘Wann …?’ (When …?), you know to listen for a time or date.

听力考试中每段录音播放两遍。第一遍抓大意,第二遍记具体细节。在音频开始前,仔细阅读题目并预测可能听到的内容。例如,如果问题以 ‘Wann …?’ 开头,你就要注意听时间或日期。

Key words to listen for: numbers, days (Montag, Dienstag, etc.), months (Januar, Februar), times (halb drei = 2:30), prices (€4,50 – vier Euro fünfzig) and places (Bahnhof, Schule, Kino). Train your ear to pick up question words: wer, was, wo, wann, warum, wie.

需要听的关键词:数字、星期(Montag, Dienstag 等)、月份(Januar, Februar)、时间(halb drei = 两点半)、价格(4.50 欧元 – vier Euro fünfzig)和地点(Bahnhof, Schule, Kino)。训练耳朵抓住疑问词:wer, was, wo, wann, warum, wie。

A positive or negative opinion is often tested. Listen for expressions like ‘Das ist toll/langweilig’ (That is great/boring), ‘Ich mag … nicht’ (I don’t like …), ‘… gefällt mir’ (I like …). Distractors are common: the speaker might say ‘Ich wollte ins Kino gehen, aber ich bin zu Hause geblieben.’ So the correct answer is ‘zu Hause’, not ‘Kino’.

观点态度也常考。听辨:‘Das ist toll/langweilig’,‘Ich mag … nicht’,‘… gefällt mir’。干扰项常见:说话者可能说 ‘我本来想去电影院,但我留在家了。’ 那么正确答案是 ‘在家’ 而不是 ‘电影院’。

8. Note-Taking Techniques | 记笔记技巧

During the listening test, jot down key words or abbreviations. Develop your own shorthand: ‘S’ for Schule, ‘Ki’ for Kino, ‘M’ for Montag. Never try to write full sentences – you will miss the next piece of information. Focus on content words: nouns, verbs, numbers.

听力测试时,迅速记下关键词或缩写。开发自己的速记法:‘S’ 代表 Schule,‘Ki’ 代表 Kino,‘M’ 代表 Montag。绝不要试图写完整句子——你会错过后面信息。专注于实词:名词、动词、数字。

If the recording mentions three activities, number them 1, 2, 3. For example: ‘Maria geht zuerst ins Kino, dann ins Café, und danach nach Hause.’ Your notes: 1 Ki, 2 Caf, 3 Haus. This helps you answer sequencing questions.

如果录音提到三项活动,给它们标上 1、2、3。例如:‘Maria 先去看电影,然后去咖啡馆,之后回家。’ 你的笔记:1 Ki, 2 Caf, 3 Haus。这有助于回答排序题。

9. Dealing with Unknown Words | 处理生词

It is normal to hear words you do not know. Do not panic. Use context: if the sentence is about a birthday, ‘Geschenk’ is likely a present. Listen to intonation as well – a rising tone might indicate a question, a falling one a statement.

听到生词很正常。不要慌。利用上下文:如果句子和生日有关,‘Geschenk’ 很可能指礼物。同时注意语调——升调可能表示疑问,降调是陈述。

Sometimes the word sounds similar to English: ‘Telefon’, ‘Information’, ‘Problem’. Keep listening – the next sentence often clarifies the meaning. Before the exam, familiarise yourself with common prefixes like ‘ver-’, ‘be-’, ‘ent-’ to guess verb meanings.

有些词听起来和英语很像:‘Telefon’, ‘Information’, ‘Problem’。继续听下去——下一句往往会澄清含义。考前熟悉常见前缀如 ‘ver-’, ‘be-’, ‘ent-’,有助于推测动词意思。

10. Common Speaking Errors | 常见口语错误

A few grammar traps can spoil an otherwise good oral performance. Fix these early. First, verb position: in main clauses the verb must be the second idea. ‘Ich gehe morgen ins Kino’ NOT ‘Ich morgen ins Kino gehe’.

几个语法陷阱会破坏原本不错的口语表现,及早纠正。第一,动词位置:主句中动词必须是第二个意群。‘Ich gehe morgen ins Kino’ 而不是 ‘Ich morgen ins Kino gehe’。

Second, separable verbs: ‘anrufen’ (to call) -> ‘Ich rufe meine Freundin an.’ The prefix ‘an’ goes to the end. Third, adjective endings: after ‘das’, the adjective ends in -e; after ‘einen’, it ends in -en, e.g. ‘das rote Auto’ vs ‘einen roten Apfel’. Don’t over-worry, but knowing the basics prevents confusion.

第二,分离动词:‘anrufen’(打电话)变为 ‘Ich rufe meine Freundin an.’ 前缀 ‘an’ 移到句末。第三,形容词词尾:在 ‘das’ 后形容词词尾 -e,在 ‘einen’ 后词尾 -en,如 ‘das rote Auto’ 与 ‘einen roten Apfel’。不必过度焦虑,但掌握基础可避免混淆。
