1. Respiration is breathing in oxygen | 呼吸作用就是吸入氧气

A very common error is using ‘respiration’ to mean the mechanical act of breathing. In Biology, respiration is a chemical process occurring inside cells. It involves the release of energy from glucose, typically using oxygen. The overall word equation for aerobic respiration is: glucose + oxygen → carbon dioxide + water (+ energy). Breathing, or ventilation, is simply the movement of air into and out of the lungs to maintain concentration gradients for gas exchange.

The two circuits are separate; blood does not go heart → lungs → body directly without returning to the heart first.

Diffusion applies to any particles moving down a concentration gradient. Using the correct terminology—water potential, partially permeable membrane—is essential in exam answers. Simply saying ‘diffusion of water’ often fails to gain full marks.

两者虽均为被动过程,但渗透作用特指水分子通过半透膜从较高水势区域向较低水势区域的净移动。扩散则泛指任何粒子沿浓度梯度运动。考试答案中必须使用正确术语——水势、半透膜。仅仅说“水的扩散”通常无法得满分。
