Saturation (intensity/chroma) describes the purity or dullness of a hue. A highly saturated colour appears vivid and bright; reducing saturation brings it closer to grey. Desaturation can be achieved by adding its complement, grey, or white.

The Rule of Thirds divides the frame into nine equal rectangles by two equally spaced horizontal and two vertical lines. Placing the main subject at an intersection or along a line creates a balanced, dynamic composition that avoids a static centre.

The design process in CCEA Art revolves around four interconnected stages: analyse (research and investigate a theme), plan (sketch thumbnails, explore composition), develop (experiment with media, refine ideas), and refine (evaluate and resolve the final piece).
