1. Gender Confusion: Der, Die, Das | 名词性别混淆

One of the biggest challenges for English speakers is that every German noun has a gender: masculine (der), feminine (die), or neuter (das). A common mistake is guessing the gender or treating nouns like their English equivalents. For example, students often write ‘die Tisch’ instead of ‘der Tisch’.

对于英语母语者来说,最大的挑战之一是每个德语名词都有阴阳中三性。常见错误是猜测词性或把名词当作英文对应词使用。比如,学生常把 ‘der Tisch’(桌子)错写成 ‘die Tisch’。

To overcome this, always learn nouns together with their definite article. Pay attention to endings that give clues: words ending in -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion are usually feminine (die Zeitung); nouns ending in -chen or -lein are neuter (das Mädchen); and many ending in -er, -el, -en are masculine (der Computer, der Löffel).

解决之道是:始终结合定冠词学习名词。注意词尾提示:以 -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft
