📚 GCSE WJEC German: Case Study Practice | GCSE WJEC 德语:案例分析实战演练

In the WJEC GCSE German exam, many writing and speaking tasks are built around real-world prompts – emails, adverts, blog posts or notices. These case study exercises require you to read, understand, plan and respond effectively, hitting every bullet point while maintaining accurate grammar. This revision guide walks you through a step-by-step practical approach, complete with example scenarios, key phrases, exam tips and a self-assessment checklist, so you can tackle any case study with confidence.

在 WJEC GCSE 德语考试中,许多写作和口语任务都建立在真实情景材料之上——如电子邮件、广告、博客或通知。这些案例分析练习要求你阅读、理解、规划并有效作答,既要覆盖全部要点,又要保持语法准确。本复习指南将带你走完一套循序渐进的实战流程,配有示例情景、关键短语、应试提示和自我评估清单,让你能够从容应对任何案例分析题。

1. Understanding the Task: Decoding the Case Study | 理解任务:解读案例

Your first job is to read the entire stimulus text once without stopping. Identify the core situation: Who is writing? Why? Is it a formal message from a company or an informal chat between friends? This initial scan sets the tone for your entire answer. If you misjudge the context, your register will be wrong from the start.

你的第一项任务是通读整段源材料,不要停顿。明确核心情境:谁在写?为什么写?是来自公司的正式信息,还是朋友间的非正式对话?这最初的一扫决定了你整篇回答的基调。如果误判了语境,你的语体从一开始就会出错。

Next, focus on the bullet points or numbered instructions that follow the text. These are your to-do list. In a typical WJEC writing task, you will see three to five bullet points that tell you exactly what information to include. Any of them left unanswered costs you marks under content and communication.

接下来,关注文本后面的要点符号或编号指令。那就是你的待办事项清单。在一道典型的 WJEC 写作题中,你会看到三到五个要点,清楚说明你需要纳入哪些信息。任何一个未作答,都会在内容与交流项下扣分。

Decide on the register as soon as you see the prompt. If the source text uses ‘du’ and first names, your reply must use ‘du’ and an informal tone. If the text uses ‘Sie’, then you must respond with ‘Sie’ and formal conventions. Markers are strict on this consistency.

一看到源材料就要确定语体。如果原文使用“du”和直呼其名,你的回复也必须用“du”和非正式口吻。如果原文用“Sie”,那你就必须用“Sie”及正式用语规范。阅卷人在这一点上是很严格的。

2. Analysing the Source Text | 分析源材料

Take a highlighter – mentally or on paper – and pick out dates, times, locations, names and any specific requests made by the writer. If the email asks “Kannst du am Samstag um 10 Uhr kommen?”, you have just found a key piece of information that your reply must acknowledge. Missing it can break the logical flow of your response.

拿出一支荧光笔——脑中或纸上均可——标出日期、时间、地点、姓名以及写信人提出的任何具体要求。如果邮件问“Kannst du am Samstag um 10 Uhr kommen?”,你就刚刚找到了必须在回复中回应的一个关键信息。漏掉它会打断你回答的逻辑链条。

Look for language you can borrow safely. For instance, if the source contains the phrase “Ich interessiere mich für Sport”, you can adapt it to “Ich interessiere mich auch für Sport” or “Ich interessiere mich für Musik” to echo the structure while adding your own twist. This shows you have understood the input and can manipulate the language.

寻找可以安全借用的表达。例如,如果源文中含有短语“Ich interessiere mich für Sport”,你可以将其调整为“Ich interessiere mich auch für Sport”或“Ich interessiere mich für Musik”,在保留结构的同时加入自己的变体。这既是理解输入的证明,也是语言运用能力的展示。

Never copy whole chunks directly. Examiners want to see your productive skills, so use the source as inspiration, not as a script. Change at least one element – tense, person, vocabulary – whenever you reuse an idea.

切勿直接照抄大段内容。考官想看的是你的产出能力,因此只把源材料当灵感,不要当台词本。每次复用某个想法时,至少要改变一个要素——时态、人称或词汇。

3. Bullet Points: What to Include | 要点清单:回答内容

Treat every bullet point as a mini-question. If the prompt says “schreib, was du am Wochenende gemacht hast”, you need to state one or two past activities, using the perfect tense, and you must not drift into talking about future plans unless it fits a later bullet. Always check the exact phrasing: is it “warum”, “wann”, “wie”, “mit wem”? Each question word demands a specific type of answer.

把每一个要点都当作一道迷你问答题。如果提示写道“schreib, was du am Wochenende gemacht hast”,你就需要陈述一两个过去的活动,使用完成时,并且不能偏离到谈论未来计划上去——除非那适合后面的某个要点。始终准确核对措辞:到底是“warum”、“wann”、“wie”还是“mit wem”?每一个疑问词都要求一种特定类型的答案。

In your plan, jot down two or three German phrases per bullet point, so you don’t run out of ideas under pressure. For example, next to “was du gerne isst”, note “Pizza, Nudeln, vegetarische Gerichte”. That way you can weave several items into a longer sentence instead of offering a single one-word reply.

做计划时,给每个要点记下两三个德语短语,这样在压力之下就不会没话可写。例如,在“was du gerne isst”旁边写下“Pizza, Nudeln, vegetarische Gerichte”。这样你就能把多个项目编织进一个长句,而不是只给出一个单词式的回答。

Check whether any bullet points are linked. Sometimes a task will ask “warum du nicht kommen kannst und wann du stattdessen Zeit hast”. If you only give a reason but forget to propose a new date, you have only half-fulfilled that instruction. Circle the connecting word “und” in such bullet points to remind yourself.

检查各要点之间是否有联系。有时任务会问“warum du nicht kommen kannst und wann du stattdessen Zeit hast”。如果你只给出了原因,却忘记提出一个新的日期,那你就只完成了一半的要求。在这样的要点里,把连接词“und”圈出来,给自己提个醒。

4. Structuring Your Response | 构建你的回答

Start with an appropriate greeting: “Lieber Tim” or “Liebe Anna” for informal, “Sehr geehrte Frau Müller” or “Sehr geehrter Herr Schmidt” for formal. If the source doesn’t give a name, use “Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren” for formal or a generic “Hallo” for very casual posts.

以合适的称呼开头:非正式用“Lieber Tim”或“Liebe Anna”,正式用“Sehr geehrte Frau Müller”或“Sehr geehrter Herr Schmidt”。如果源材料没给名字,正式文体用“Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren”,极随意的帖子可用“Hallo”。

After the greeting, include a short introductory sentence that acknowledges the message you received: “Vielen Dank für deine E-Mail!” or “Ich habe Ihre Anzeige im Internet gesehen.” This shows you are responding to a real situation rather than writing in a vacuum.

称呼之后,写一句简短的引言来承接收到的信息:“Vielen Dank für deine E-Mail!”或“Ich habe Ihre Anzeige im Internet gesehen.”这表明你是在回应一个真实情境,而不是无的放矢。

Then work through the bullet points logically. Group related points together – for example, information about yourself, then questions you want to ask, then details about the event. Use connectives such as “außerdem”, “deshalb”, “jedoch” and “danach” to create a smooth flow. End with a polite closing line and your name.

然后有逻辑地逐一处理要点。把相关要点归类——比如,关于你自己的信息,然后是你想问的问题,再然后是事件细节。使用“außerdem”、“deshalb”、“jedoch”、“danach”等连接词使行文流畅。最后以一句礼貌的结束语和你的名字收尾。

5. Key Phrases and Connectives | 关键短语和连接词

Having a ready set of versatile phrases can save time and reduce errors. Below are phrases grouped by function. Practise them in different combinations until they feel natural.

掌握一套可以灵活调用的短语能节省时间并减少错误。下表按功能分类列出了一些短语。请在不同组合中练习,直到它们感觉自然为止。

Vary your language to access higher marks. Instead of always using “ich mag”, try “ich liebe”, “ich habe Lust auf”, or “… gefällt mir sehr”. Small changes demonstrate a stronger vocabulary range.

变换你的语言以争取更高分数。与其总是用“ich mag”,不如试试“ich liebe”、“ich habe Lust auf”或“……gefällt mir sehr”。细微的改变能展现更大的词汇量。

6. Tenses and Accuracy | 时态与准确性

Check which tenses are required. If a bullet point asks about last weekend or a past event, you must use the perfect tense: “Ich bin ins Kino gegangen” or “Ich habe Fußball gespielt”. Future intentions can be expressed through the present tense plus a time phrase – “Morgen gehe ich einkaufen” – or with “werden”: “Ich werde meine Freunde treffen.”

检查需要用到哪些时态。如果某个要点询问的是上一个周末或过去事件,你就必须使用完成时:“Ich bin ins Kino gegangen”或“Ich habe Fußball gespielt”。未来的打算可以用现在时加时间短语来表达——“Morgen gehe ich einkaufen”——或用“werden”:“Ich werde meine Freunde treffen.”

Common accuracy traps include word order after “weil” (verb to the end), the position of time expressions, and the correct endings for articles and adjectives after “mit”, “für”, “in” etc. Always leave two minutes at the end to re-read your text specifically for these small but costly errors.

常见的准确性陷阱包括“weil”之后的语序(动词置于末尾)、时间状语的位置,以及在“mit”、“für”、“in”等之后冠词与形容词的正确词尾。最后总要留出两分钟,专门重读你的文章,排查这些细小但代价高昂的错误。

Use ‘es gibt’ + accusative when describing what facilities exist in your town or school. Remember that quantities like ‘viele’ and ‘einige’ also affect the case and adjective endings that follow. Accuracy here signals strong control.

当描述你的城镇或学校有什么设施时,用“es gibt”加四格。记住“viele”、“einige”等量词同样会影响后续的格和形容词词尾。此处的准确性是语言掌控力的有力信号。

7. Vocabulary for Common Scenarios | 常见场景词汇

GCSE case studies often revolve around six or seven core topics. Build a personal lexicon for each. Here are some high-frequency words grouped for quick recall.

Actively learning nouns with their articles and plural forms pays off in writing and speaking. For example, always memorise “das Hotel, -s” rather than just “Hotel”. This habit makes it much easier to use correct adjective endings and pronouns.

主动记忆名词的冠词及其复数形式会在写作和口语中大获回报。例如,始终以“das Hotel, -s”的形式来记,而不是只记“Hotel”。这个习惯让正确使用形容词词尾和代词变得容易得多。

8. Practice Example 1: A School Exchange | 练习案例1:学校交流

You receive the following email from your German partner school. Read it carefully and then plan your reply addressing all four bullet points.

你收到了以下这封来自德国友校的邮件。仔细阅读,然后规划你的回复,要覆盖全部四个提示要点。

Liebe/r Austauschpartner/in,
wir freuen uns sehr auf deinen Besuch nächsten Monat! Schreib uns bitte:
• wann genau du kommst und wie du anreist
• was du gerne isst und ob du besondere Wünsche hast
• welche Sehenswürdigkeiten du in unserer Stadt sehen möchtest
• ob du einen Tagesausflug ans Meer machen willst.
Bis bald!
Deine Familie Wagner

First, note the friendly tone (“Liebe/r”, “Deine”). Your reply will be informal. The bullet points ask for arrival details, food preferences, sightseeing wishes and a decision about a day trip. In your plan, decide: you will fly to Frankfurt on the 12th, you love pasta and are vegetarian, you want to visit the cathedral and the old town, and yes, you would love a trip to the sea.

首先,留意友好的口吻(“Liebe/r”、“Deine”)。你的回复将是非正式的。要点询问的是抵达细节、饮食偏好、游览意愿以及对日间短途旅行的决定。做计划时,你决定:将于12日飞往法兰克福,喜爱意大利面并且素食,想参观大教堂和老城,并且非常愿意去海边。

Begin your answer: “Liebe Familie Wagner, vielen Dank für die E-Mail. Ich freue mich auch auf den Besuch!” Then address the points in order. For the food point, you could write: “Ich esse gern Pasta und Gemüse. Ich bin Vegetarierin, also bitte kein Fleisch.” This clearly answers both what you like and any special request. Use connectives to link ideas and vary sentence length.

如此开头:“Liebe Familie Wagner, vielen Dank für die E-Mail. Ich freue mich auch auf den Besuch!” 然后依次处理要点。饮食那一点,你可以写:“Ich esse gern Pasta und Gemüse. Ich bin Vegetarierin, also bitte kein Fleisch.” 这清楚回答了喜欢吃什么以及有何特殊要求。用连接词串联想法,并变换句长。

End warmly: “Ich freue mich auf die Reise ans Meer! Bis bald, deine Sarah.” The entire response should be between 80 and 120 words and contain at least two different tenses if possible (present and future). This shows higher-level skill.

热情收尾:“Ich freue mich auf die Reise ans Meer! Bis bald, deine Sarah.” 整篇回复应长约80至120词,并尽可能包含至少两种不同时态(现在和将来)。这体现出高阶技巧。

9. Practice Example 2: A Part-Time Job Inquiry | 练习案例2:兼职工作咨询

Now try a formal context. You have seen this advertisement on a shop window and decide to enquire in writing.

现在来试试正式语境。你在商店橱窗上看到了这则广告,决定写信去咨询。

Aushilfe gesucht!
Wir suchen eine freundliche Person für unseren Supermarkt in der Münchener Straße. Aufgaben: Regale einräumen, Kunden helfen. Schreiben Sie uns:
• warum Sie sich für die Stelle interessieren
• welche Erfahrungen Sie haben
• wann Sie Zeit haben
• welche Stärken Sie mitbringen.

Notice the use of “Sie” – your response must follow suit with “Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren” and formal verb forms. Jot down a quick skeleton: opening, motivation, experience, availability, strengths, polite close.

留意“Sie”的使用——你的回复必须同样用“Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren”和正式的动词变位。快速搭个框架:开头、动机、经验、可工作时间、优势、礼貌结尾。

For motivation, aim for something beyond “ich brauche Geld”. Write “Ich interessiere mich für die Aushilfe, weil ich gerne mit Menschen arbeite und etwas dazuverdienen möchte.” For experience, even a short mention of helping in a family shop or babysitting counts – “Letztes Jahr habe ich in einem kleinen Café ausgeholfen.” Keep every sentence relevant to the bullet point.

This leaves a mature, capable impression. Always add your full name at the bottom in a formal letter.

以“Ich freue mich auf Ihre Antwort und stehe für ein persönliches Gespräch gerne zur Verfügung.” 收尾。这给人留下成熟、能干的印象。在正式信件末尾,一定要加上你的全名。

10. Self-Assessment Checklist | 自我评估清单

Before you finish any practice exercise, run through the following checklist. It mirrors what examiners use to mark content and language.

在完成任何练习之前,请核对以下清单。它反映了阅卷人所用的内容与语言评分标准。
