The most controlled method is the experiment, where a researcher manipulates an independent variable (IV) to measure its effect on a dependent variable (DV), while keeping other factors constant. For example, you might test whether background music (IV) affects memory recall (DV).

Memory involves three key processes: encoding (transforming sensory input into a form that can be stored), storage (keeping information over time), and retrieval (accessing stored information when needed). The multi-store model suggests that memory consists of sensory memory, short-term memory (STM), and long-term memory (LTM).

Conformity is a change in behaviour or belief as a result of real or imagined group pressure. Solomon Asch’s line-judgment experiments showed that people often conform to an obviously incorrect majority to avoid feeling different or being rejected.

Obedience involves following direct commands from an authority figure.
