1. What Is AQA A-Level Mathematics? | 什么是 AQA A-Level 数学?

AQA A-Level Mathematics (specification 7357) is a two-year linear qualification assessed by three written papers at the end of the course. It covers pure mathematics, mechanics and statistics, with pure content making up two thirds of the final grade.

2. Course Structure and Assessment | 课程结构与考核

AQA A-Level Mathematics has three exam papers. Paper 1 assesses pure mathematics only. Paper 2 assesses pure mathematics and mechanics, while Paper 3 assesses pure mathematics and statistics.

Each paper lasts 2 hours and carries 100 marks, giving a total of 300 marks. The applied content (mechanics and statistics) accounts for about one third of the total marks.

Because it is a linear qualification, all exams are taken at the end of the two-year course. This means you need to retain knowledge from the first year while learning new second-year material.

3. Pure Mathematics: Core Concepts | 纯数学:核心概念

Pure mathematics forms the backbone of the A-Level course. It includes proof, algebra and functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation, integration, numerical methods and vectors.

In the first year, you will extend GCSE algebra by studying quadratic functions, inequalities, polynomial division and the binomial expansion. These tools are essential for later calculus topics.
