1. Why French? Setting the Scene | 为什么学法语?场景导入

French is spoken by over 300 million people across all five continents. It is the official language of 29 countries and one of the working languages of the United Nations, UNESCO and the International Olympic Committee. Learning French opens doors to incredible cultures – from the art galleries of Paris to the street markets of Dakar, the snowy landscapes of Québec to the tropical islands of the Seychelles. For a Year 7 student, French is also a fantastic workout for the brain: it sharpens your listening skills, improves your memory, and helps you understand how languages work in general. Best of all, it is a subject where you can start making progress from day one, through songs, games and speaking activities.

2. The French Alphabet & Sounds | 法语字母与发音

The French alphabet uses the same 26 Latin letters as English, but the names of the letters and their sounds can be quite different. For example, the letter ‘A’ is pronounced ‘ah’, ‘B’ is ‘bay’, ‘C’ is ‘say’, and ‘E’ is ‘uh’. French also has special characters called accents that change the pronunciation or distinguish meanings: the acute accent on é (as in école), the grave accent on è (as in règle), the circumflex on ê (as in fête), the cedilla under ç (as in garçon, where it makes a soft ‘s’ sound), and the diaeresis on ë, ï, ü which show that the vowel is pronounced separately. Spend some time listening to the alphabet song and practising the sounds – it will make spelling and reading aloud much easier. Remember that French vowels are pure and short, never diphthongised like in English: ‘u’ is a tight, rounded vowel made with pursed lips, and ‘r’ is produced at the back of the throat, softly rasping.

法语字母表使用与英语相同的26个拉丁字母,但字母名称和读音可能差异很大。例如,字母A读作’ah’,B读作’bay’,C读作’say’,E读作’uh’。

3. Greetings and Basic Politeness | 问候与基本礼貌用语

Your first conversation in French usually starts with a greeting. The most common ones are Bonjour (Hello / Good day), used until evening, and Bonsoir (Good evening) after about 6 p.m. For saying goodbye, you can use Au revoir (Goodbye) or Salut (Bye, which is informal and also means ‘hi’). In France, it is polite to add Monsieur (sir), Madame (ma’am/mrs) or Mademoiselle (miss) when addressing someone you do not know well. Other essential polite words are S’il vous plaît (Please), Merci (Thank you) and De rien / Je vous en prie (You’re welcome). If you bump into someone, say Pardon or Excusez-moi. Practice these aloud, paying attention to the silent final consonants: the ‘t’ in ‘salut’ and the ‘d’ in ‘pardon’ are not pronounced. Try using them around the house or with friends to build the habit.

你的第一次法语对话通常以问候开始。最常用的是Bonjour(你好 / 日安),适用于傍晚之前;晚上6点后则用Bonsoir(晚上好)。道别时,你可以说Au revoir(再见)或Salut(拜拜,这是个非正式用词,也可表示’嗨’)。在法国,与不太熟悉的人交谈时,加上Monsieur(先生)、Madame(女士/太太)或Mademoiselle(小姐)会显得很有礼貌。其他必备的礼貌用语有S’il vous plaît(请)、Merci(谢谢)以及De rien / Je vous en prie(不客气)。如果你不小心撞到了别人,要说PardonExcusez-moi。请大声练习这些表达,注意词尾不发音的辅音:’salut’中的’t’和’pardon’中的’d’都不发音。试着在家或与朋友使用它们,以养成习惯。

4. Introducing Yourself: Name, Age, Where You Live | 自我介绍:姓名、年龄、居住地

Being able to say who you are and ask others the same is a real confidence booster. The key phrases are: Je m’appelle… (My name is…), J’ai … ans (I am … years old) and J’habite à … (I live in …). To ask a classmate, you say: Comment tu t’appelles ? (What’s your name?), Quel âge as-tu ? (How old are you?) and Où habites-tu ? (Where do you live?). Note the informal tu form used among classmates. When responding, you can join the sentences together: Bonjour, je m’appelle Marie. J’ai 11 ans et j’habite à Londres. Pay attention to the numbers 1-20, which we will practise in the next section. Practise this mini-dialogue with a partner or record yourself. The key to natural introductions is linking words smoothly: ‘Je m’appelle’ flows as ‘j’m’appelle’, and ‘J’ai’ sounds like ‘zhay’.

能够说出自己是谁,并询问他人同样的问题,会极大提升自信。关键句子有:Je m’appelle…(我叫……)、J’ai … ans(我……岁)和J’habite à …(我住在……)。要询问同学,你说:Comment tu t’appelles ?(你叫什么名字?)、Quel âge as-tu ?(你多大了?)和Où habites-tu ?(你住哪里?)。请注意同学间使用的非正式人称tu。回答时可将句子串联起来:Bonjour, je m’appelle Marie. J’ai 11 ans et j’habite à Londres. 注意我们下一节要练习的数字1–20。找一个伙伴练习这段小对话,或自己录音。自然进行自我介绍的关键在于连音:’Je m’appelle’连读为’j’m’appelle’,’J’ai’听起来像’zhay’。

5. Numbers 1–20: Counting in French | 数字1–20:法语数数

Numbers are essential for giving your age, telling the time, sharing phone numbers and even playing games. Let’s learn 1 to 10 first: un (1), deux (2), trois (3), quatre (4), cinq (5), six (6), sept (7), huit (8), neuf (9), dix (10). Then 11 to 20: onze (11), douze (12), treize (13), quatorze (14), quinze (15), seize (16), dix-sept (17), dix-huit (18), dix-neuf (19), vingt (20). Notice that 17, 18 and 19 are literally ten-seven, ten-eight and ten-nine. The final consonants are often silent: ‘six’ and ‘dix’ end with an ‘s’ sound only when they are at the end of a number (but not when followed by a consonant), and ‘vingt’ is pronounced ‘van’ with a silent ‘gt’. A fun way to memorise them is to count backwards, play bingo, or find patterns around you – count the steps you climb or the items in your school bag.

6. Colours and Describing Objects | 颜色与描述物品

Adding colour words to your vocabulary makes French instantly more expressive. The basic colours are: rouge (red), bleu (blue), jaune (yellow), vert (green), noir (black), blanc (white), rose (pink), gris (grey), orange (orange) and marron (brown). Most colours change their endings to agree with the noun they describe: add an ‘e’ for feminine nouns, and an ‘s’ for plural nouns – but many colour words already end in ‘e’ or are invariable. For example, un stylo bleu (a blue pen) becomes une gomme bleue (a blue eraser) and des stylos bleus (blue pens). The colours orange and marron are usually invariable. Practise by describing classroom objects: une règle rouge, un cahier vert, des ciseaux noirs. This is also your first taste of French adjective agreement – a very important grammar concept that you will keep using.

将颜色词汇加入你的词库,会让法语表达立即变得更加生动。基本颜色有:rouge(红)、bleu(蓝)、jaune(黄)、vert(绿)、noir(黑)、blanc(白)、rose(粉红)、gris(灰)、orange(橙)和marron(棕)。大多数颜色需要与所修饰名词保持性、数一致:阴性名词后加e,复数名词后加s——但许多颜色词本身以e结尾或是不变的。例如,un stylo bleu(一支蓝色钢笔)变成une gomme bleue(一块蓝色橡皮)和des stylos bleus(蓝色钢笔)。orangemarron通常不变化。练习描述教室物品:une règle rougeun cahier vertdes ciseaux noirs。这也是你初次接触法语形容词的配合——一个你将会持续使用的重要语法概念。

7. Days, Months and the Date | 星期、月份和日期

Knowing the days of the week and the months helps you talk about timetables, birthdays and plans. The days are lundi (Monday), mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi and dimanche. They are not capitalised in French. The months are janvier, février, mars, avril, mai, juin, juillet, août, septembre, octobre, novembre and décembre. To say the date, you can use: Aujourd’hui, c’est lundi 3 octobre. Note that in French, the day comes before the month, and cardinal numbers (except for the first, which uses premier) are used: le 2 mai, le 14 juillet. The phrase Quelle est la date ? means ‘What’s the date?’. Try keeping a small French calendar on your desk and changing the date each morning.

8. Classroom Survival Phrases | 课堂常用语

Your French classroom will be a lively space where the teacher often speaks in French. Having a set of survival phrases helps you follow instructions and ask for help without switching to English. Key phrases to know: Écoutez (Listen), Répétez (Repeat), Regardez (Look), Levez la main (Raise your hand), Ouvrez le livre (Open the book), Fermez le cahier (Close the exercise book), Asseyez-vous (Sit down), Silence, s’il vous plaît (Quiet, please). As a student, you will want to say: Je ne comprends pas (I don’t understand), Vous pouvez répéter, s’il vous plaît ? (Can you repeat, please?), Comment dit-on … en français ? (How do you say … in French?) and J’ai fini (I have finished). Memorising these early on reduces anxiety and lets you focus on the language itself.

你的法语课堂将是一个充满活力的空间,老师常常会用法语授课。掌握一组课堂常用语,能帮助你理解指令并在不用英语的情况下寻求帮助。需要了解的关键说法:Écoutez(听)、Répétez(重复一遍)、Regardez(看)、Levez la main(举手)、Ouvrez le livre(打开书)、Fermez le cahier(合上练习册)、Asseyez-vous(坐下)、Silence, s’il vous plaît(请安静)。作为学生,你会想要说:Je ne comprends pas(我不明白)、Vous pouvez répéter, s’il vous plaît ?(请再说一遍好吗?)、Comment dit-on … en français ?(……用法语怎么说?)和J’ai fini(我做完了)。尽早记住这些句子,可以减少焦虑,让你更专注于语言本身。

9. The Articles: Le, La, L’, Les | 冠词:定冠词与不定冠词

All French nouns need an article or determiner in front of them. The definite article ‘the’ has four forms: le (masculine singular), la (feminine singular), l’ (before a vowel or silent ‘h’) and les (plural for both genders). For example: le garçon (the boy), la fille (the girl), l’ami (the friend, masculine) and les élèves (the pupils). The indefinite article ‘a/an’ also has forms: un (masculine), une (feminine) and des (some, plural). So we say un crayon (a pencil), une trousse (a pencil case) and des livres (some books). There is no easy rule to know if a noun is masculine or feminine – you simply need to learn the article together with the noun. A helpful tip is to always picture the noun with its article and colour-code it in your notes: blue for masculine and pink for feminine, for instance. Start a vocabulary notebook with the full article for every new word.

所有法语名词前都需要一个冠词或限定词。定冠词’the’有四种形式:le(阳性单数)、la(阴性单数)、l’(用于元音或不发音h前)和les(阴阳性通用复数)。例如:le garçon(男孩)、la fille(女孩)、l’ami(朋友,阳性)和les élèves(学生们)。不定冠词’a/an’也有不同形式:un(阳性)、une(阴性)和des(一些,复数)。所以我们会说 un crayon(一支铅笔)、une trousse(一个笔袋)和des livres(一些书)。判断一个名词是阳性还是阴性,并没有简单的规则——你需要把冠词和名词一起记忆。一个小窍门是,在脑海中始终将名词与其冠词联系在一起,并在笔记中用颜色标识:例如蓝色代表阳性,粉色代表阴性。准备一个词汇本,每学一个新词,都要带上完整的冠词。

10. Essential Verbs: Être and Avoir | 基础动词:être 和 avoir

Two verbs do more work in French than almost any others: être (to be) and avoir (to have). They are irregular, so you need to memorise them. Let’s look at the present tense:

Être Avoir
je suis (I am) j’ai (I have)
tu es (you are) tu as (you have)
il/elle est (he/she is) il/elle a (he/she has)
nous sommes (we are) nous avons (we have)
vous êtes (you are, formal/plural) vous avez (you have, formal/plural)
ils/elles sont (they are) ils/elles ont (they have)

These verbs pop up everywhere: in introductions (je suis français / j’ai 12 ans), in descriptions (il est gentil) and in many idiomatic phrases such as avoir faim (to be hungry), avoir soif (to be thirsty), avoir chaud (to be hot) and avoir raison (to be right). Make flashcards and practise little sentences every day – this is the grammar foundation you will build on throughout Year 7.

有两个动词在法语中的使用频率几乎超过其他任何动词:être(是)和avoir(有)。它们都是不规则动词,因此需要背诵。我们先来看一般现在时的变位:

Être Avoir
je suis(我是) j’ai(我有)
tu es(你是) tu as(你有)
il/elle est(他/她是) il/elle a(他/她有)
nous sommes(我们是) nous avons(我们有)
vous êtes(您是/你们是) vous avez(您有/你们有)
ils/elles sont(他们是) ils/elles ont(他们有)

这两个动词无处不在:出现在自我介绍中(je suis français / j’ai 12 ans),在描述中(il est gentil),还出现在众多习惯用语中,比如avoir faim(饿了)、avoir soif(渴了)、avoir chaud(觉得热)和avoir raison(说得对)。制作闪卡,每天练习小句子——这将是你整个七年级法语学习的语法基石。

11. A Taste of French Culture: La Francophonie | 法语文化初探:法语国家与地区

The French language belongs to more than just France. The global community of French speakers is called la francophonie. It includes countries in Europe (Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg), North America (Canada, particularly Québec), the Caribbean (Martinique, Guadeloupe, Haiti), Africa (Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Madagascar), Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia) and the Pacific (French Polynesia, New Caledonia). Each region has its own accent, expressions and traditions. For example, in Québec, ‘barrer’ means to lock a door, while in France it means to bar or to cross out. Food, music, festivals and literature all vary wonderfully. As a Year 7 learner, you don’t need to know everything at once – but being curious about the cultures behind the language will make your learning much richer. Watch a cartoon in French, try a recipe from a French-speaking country, or listen to a song by a francophone artist.

法语不仅仅属于法国。全球法语使用者的社区被称为la francophonie(法语世界)。

12. Top Tips for a Smooth Transition | 顺利衔接小贴士

Making the jump into Year 7 French is exciting, and a few simple habits can make all the difference. First, listen daily: 10 minutes of French children’s songs, a short podcast or a cartoon with subtitles will train your ear without feeling like hard work. Second, speak out loud: the best way to overcome the fear of sounding silly is to practise in private – read the greetings, numbers and phrases aloud with confidence. Third, use what you learn: label objects in your bedroom with sticky notes (le mur, la fenêtre, le bureau) or try naming the colours of things you see on a walk. Fourth, embrace mistakes: errors are not a sign of failure but a necessary step in language learning. If you say ‘le table’ instead of ‘la table’, take note and move on. Finally, stay organised: keep a vocabulary book and revisit it regularly. Set yourself a small goal each week, such as learning five new words or mastering one verb form. With these strategies, you will walk into your first day of Year 7 French feeling prepared, positive and eager to join in.
