1. Subject Pronouns | 人称代词

Spanish subject pronouns are the building blocks of every sentence. They tell you who is performing the action. The complete set is: yo (I), tú (you, informal singular), él (he), ella (she), usted (you, formal singular), nosotros/nosotras (we, masculine/feminine), vosotros/vosotras (you all, informal plural, mainly used in Spain), ellos (they, masculine), ellas (they, feminine), and ustedes (you all, formal plural). Note that ‘vosotros’ is rarely used in Latin America; ‘ustedes’ serves for both formal and informal plural ‘you’ there. In Year 7, focus on memorising yo, tú, él/ella, nosotros/as, vosotros/as and ellos/ellas, as these will be your sentence starters.

西班牙语的主语代词是每个句子的基石,告诉你谁在做动作。完整的人称代词是:yo(我),tú(你,非正式单数),él(他),ella(她),usted(您,正式单数),nosotros/nosotras(我们,阳性/阴性),vosotros/vosotras(你们,非正式复数,主要在西班牙使用),ellos(他们,阳性),ellas(她们,阴性),以及 ustedes(您们/你们,正式复数)。注意,拉丁美洲几乎不使用“vosotros”,无论正式还是非正式的“你们”都用“ustedes”。在 7 年级,重点记住 yo, tú, él/ella, nosotros/as, vosotros/as 和 ellos/ellas,它们将是你造句的起点。

2. The Verb ‘Ser’ – To Be (Permanent) | 动词 ‘Ser’ – “是”(表永久属性)

The verb ‘ser’ is used to describe essential, permanent characteristics such as identity, origin, personality, and time. Its present-tense conjugation is irregular, so you must learn it off by heart: yo soy (I am), tú eres (you are), él/ella/usted es (he/she is, you formal are), nosotros/nosotras somos (we are), vosotros/vosotras sois (you all are), ellos/ellas/ustedes son (they/you all are). A handy memory trick is to chant ‘soy, eres, es, somos, sois, son’ to the rhythm of a simple song. Typical Year 7 sentences include: Soy estudiante (I am a student), Eres simpático (You are nice), Somos de México (We are from Mexico). Use ‘ser’ for the date and time too — Hoy es lunes (Today is Monday), Son las dos (It is two o’clock).

动词 ‘ser’ 用来描述本质的、永恒的特征,比如身份、来源、性格和时间。它的现在时变位是不规则的,需要你死记硬背:yo soy(我是),tú eres(你是),él/ella/usted es(他/她是,您是),nosotros/nosotras somos(我们是),vosotros/vosotras sois(你们是),ellos/ellas/ustedes son(他们/她们/诸位是)。一个巧妙的记忆方法是把“soy, eres, es, somos, sois, son”用简单旋律唱出来。7 年级的典型句子有:Soy estudiante(我是学生),Eres simpático(你很友善),Somos de México(我们来自墨西哥)。表示日期和时间时也要用 ‘ser’ —— Hoy es lunes(今天是星期一),Son las dos(现在是两点)。

3. The Verb ‘Estar’ – To Be (Temporary) | 动词 ‘Estar’ – “在/是”(临时状态)

‘Estar’ expresses temporary states, locations, and conditions. Its conjugation is also irregular: yo estoy, tú estás, él/ella/usted está, nosotros/nosotras estamos, vosotros/vosotras estáis, ellos/ellas/ustedes están. Notice the accent marks on estás and está — they are crucial for both meaning and pronunciation. Use ‘estar’ to say how you feel (Estoy cansado — I am tired), where someone or something is (El libro está en la mesa — The book is on the table), and right-now actions with the present participle (Estoy hablando — I am speaking). Remember the simple rule: if the situation can change quickly, ‘estar’ is almost certainly the right choice.

“Estar”表示临时的状态、位置和情况。它的变位同样不规则:yo estoy, tú estás, él/ella/usted está, nosotros/nosotras estamos, vosotros/vosotras estáis, ellos/ellas/ustedes están。注意 estás 和 está 上的重音符号——它们对于语义和发音都至关重要。要用“estar”来表达你的感受(Estoy cansado — 我很累),某人或某物的位置(El libro está en la mesa — 书在桌子上),以及用现在分词表示正在进行的动作(Estoy hablando — 我正在说话)。记住一条简单规则:如果状态能够迅速改变,那么选择“estar”几乎肯定是正确的。

4. Ser vs Estar: The Quick-Check Chart | Ser 与 Estar 对比速查表

One of the first big challenges in Spanish is knowing when to use ‘ser’ and when to use ‘estar’. The table below summarises the core uses tested at Year 7 level. Just learn the acronyms DOCTOR for ‘ser’ and PLACE for ‘estar’:

西班牙语入门的第一个大挑战就是弄清什么时候用“ser”、什么时候用“estar”。下面的表格总结了 7 年级水平需要掌握的核心用法。只需记住“DOCTOR”和“PLACE”这两个英文助记词:

SER (DOCTOR) ESTAR (PLACE)
D – Description (physical/personality traits)
O – Occupation
C – Characteristic (defining feature)
T – Time (date, day, hour)
O – Origin (where from)
R – Relationship
P – Position (location)
L – Location (of things/people)
A – Action (present progressive)
C – Condition (mood, health)
E – Emotion (feelings)

Test yourself: ‘She is my sister’ — relationship → ser (Ella es mi hermana). ‘She is in the kitchen’ — location → estar (Ella está en la cocina). Getting this right early on will make your Spanish sound much more authentic.

考考自己:“她是我的姐姐”——关系 → ser(Ella es mi hermana)。“她在厨房里”——位置 → estar(Ella está en la cocina)。尽早掌握这一点,会让你的西班牙语听起来地道得多。

5. Present Tense -AR Verbs | 现在时 -AR 动词变位

Regular -AR verbs follow a predictable pattern. To conjugate, drop the -AR from the infinitive and add the appropriate ending. Take ‘hablar’ (to speak) as your model: yo hablo, tú hablas, él/ella/usted habla, nosotros/nosotras hablamos, vosotros/vosotras habláis, ellos/ellas/ustedes hablan. Notice the accented á in the vosotros form — it carries the stress on the last syllable. This pattern works for hundreds of verbs you will meet in Year 7, such as estudiar (to study), cantar (to sing), bailar (to dance), and escuchar (to listen). A core formula to memorise: infinitive stem + ending. Once you can do this automatically, new -AR verbs become instant vocabulary.

规则 -AR 动词遵循一套固定的变化模式。变位时,去掉不定式中的 -AR 并加上相应的词尾。以“hablar”(说话)为例:yo hablo, tú hablas, él/ella/usted habla, nosotros/nosotras hablamos, vosotros/vosotras habláis, ellos/ellas/ustedes hablan。注意 vosotros 形式中的重读音符 á——它将重音保留在最后一个音节上。这个模式适用于你在 7 年级将遇到的数百个动词,例如 estudiar(学习)、cantar(唱歌)、bailar(跳舞)和 escuchar(听)。需要记住的核心公式是:不定式词干 + 词尾。一旦你能够熟练运用这个模式,新学的 -AR 动词立刻就能拿来造句。

6. Present Tense -ER and -IR Verbs | 现在时 -ER 和 -IR 动词变位

-ER and -IR verbs are very similar. For -ER, use ‘comer’ (to eat) as your model: yo como, tú comes, él/ella/usted come, nosotros/nosotras comemos, vosotros/vosotras coméis, ellos/ellas/ustedes comen. For -IR, the pattern is almost identical except for the nosotros and vosotros forms: take ‘vivir’ (to live) — yo vivo, tú vives, él/ella/usted vive, nosotros/nosotras vivimos, vosotros/vosotras vivís, ellos/ellas/ustedes viven. The key difference to remember is the vowel switch: -ER uses ’emos’ and ‘éis’, while -IR uses ‘imos’ and ‘ís’. Group verbs like ‘beber’ (to drink), ‘leer’ (to read), ‘escribir’ (to write), and ‘abrir’ (to open) all follow these rules faithfully.

-ER 和 -IR 动词的变位极为相似。对于 -ER 动词,以“comer”(吃)为范例:yo como, tú comes, él/ella/usted come, nosotros/nosotras comemos, vosotros/vosotras coméis, ellos/ellas/ustedes comen。对于 -IR 动词,模式几乎相同,只有 nosotros 和 vosotros 形式有差异:以“vivir”(居住)为例—— yo vivo, tú vives, él/ella/usted vive, nosotros/nosotras vivimos, vosotros/vosotras vivís, ellos/ellas/ustedes viven。需要牢记的关键区别在于元音的变化:-ER 用“emos”和“éis”,而 -IR 用“imos”和“ís”。像 beber(喝)、leer(阅读)、escribir(写)和 abrir(打开)这类动词,都会忠实地遵循这些规则。

7. The Verb ‘Tener’ – To Have | 动词 ‘Tener’ – “有”

‘Tener’ is one of the most important irregular verbs. Apart from meaning ‘to have’, it is used in many set phrases that express age, sensations, and obligations. Its conjugation is: yo tengo, tú tienes, él/ella/usted tiene, nosotros/nosotras tenemos, vosotros/vosotras tenéis, ellos/ellas/ustedes tienen. Notice the ‘g’ appears only in the yo form, and the stem change e → ie in the tú, él/ella/usted and ellos/ellas/ustedes forms. Key expressions at Year 7 level include: tener … años (to be … years old) — Tengo doce años (I am twelve years old), tener hambre/sed (to be hungry/thirsty) — ¿Tienes sed? (Are you thirsty?), and tener que + infinitive (to have to do something) — Tenemos que estudiar (We have to study). Treat these as fixed chunks rather than literal translations.

“Tener”是最重要的不规则动词之一。除了表示“拥有”之外,它还大量出现在表达年龄、感受和义务的固定短语中。它的变位是:yo tengo, tú tienes, él/ella/usted tiene, nosotros/nosotras tenemos, vosotros/vosotras tenéis, ellos/ellas/ustedes tienen。

8. The Verb ‘Ir’ – To Go | 动词 ‘Ir’ – “去”

The verb ‘ir’ is completely irregular but extremely common. Its present tense is: yo voy, tú vas, él/ella/usted va, nosotros/nosotras vamos, vosotros/vosotras vais, ellos/ellas/ustedes van. A useful tip is to link ‘voy’ with the English word ‘voyage’. When expressing where you or others are going, use the structure ‘ir + a + place’: Voy al colegio (I go to school), ¿Vas a la biblioteca? (Are you going to the library?). The construction ‘ir a + infinitive’ is also the most natural way to talk about the near future: Voy a jugar al fútbol (I am going to play football), Vamos a comer pizza (We are going to eat pizza). If you only memorise one short phrase, let it be ‘voy a’ — it will unlock an enormous number of sentences.

动词“ir”的变位完全不规则,但使用频率极高。它的现在时是:yo voy, tú vas, él/ella/usted va, nosotros/nosotras vamos, vosotros/vosotras vais, ellos/ellas/ustedes van。一个有用的小窍门是把“voy”和英文单词“voyage”(航行)联系起来。在表达去向时,使用“ir + a + 地点”结构:Voy al colegio(我去上学),¿Vas a la biblioteca?(你去图书馆吗?)。此外,“ir a + 不定式”也是表达近期将来最自然的方式:Voy a jugar al fútbol(我要去踢足球),Vamos a comer pizza(我们要吃披萨)。如果只记一个短句,那就选“voy a”——它能帮你打开无数句子的表达大门。

9. Definite and Indefinite Articles | 定冠词与不定冠词

In Spanish, all nouns have a gender — masculine or feminine — and articles must agree in gender and number. The definite articles (‘the’) are: el (masculine singular), la (feminine singular), los (masculine plural), las (feminine plural). The indefinite articles (‘a/an/some’) are: un (masculine singular), una (feminine singular), unos (masculine plural), unas (feminine plural). A simple rule for Year 7: most nouns ending in -o are masculine, and most ending in -a are feminine, but beware of exceptions like ‘el día’ (day) and ‘la mano’ (hand). Always learn a new noun together with its article — say ‘la mesa’ not just ‘mesa’. Plurals are usually formed by adding -s to a vowel-ending word and -es to a consonant-ending word: los libros, las actrices.

在西班牙语中,所有名词都有语法性别——阳性或阴性——而冠词必须在性和数上与名词保持一致。定冠词(相当于英语的“the”)包括:el(阳性单数),la(阴性单数),los(阳性复数),las(阴性复数)。不定冠词(相当于英语的“a/an/some”)包括:un(阳性单数),una(阴性单数),unos(阳性复数),unas(阴性复数)。7 年级的一条简单法则是:大多数以 -o 结尾的名词为阳性,大多数以 -a 结尾的名词为阴性,但要当心例外,比如“el día”(天)和“la mano”(手)。学习新名词时一定要连同冠词一起记——要说“la mesa”而不只是“mesa”。复数形式通常在元音结尾的词后加 -s,在辅音结尾的词后加 -es:los libros, las actrices。

10. Adjective Agreement and Position | 形容词的性数一致与位置

In Spanish, adjectives change their endings to match the gender and number of the nouns they describe. Most adjectives have four forms. Using ‘rojo’ (red) as an example: masculine singular — rojo, feminine singular — roja, masculine plural — rojos, feminine plural — rojas. This applies to colour adjectives, descriptive adjectives like ‘guapo/guapa’ (good-looking) and nationality adjectives like ‘español/española’. A small group of adjectives ending in -e or a consonant have only two forms: singular and plural. For example, ‘inteligente’ stays the same for masculine and feminine singular; you only add -s for the plural (inteligentes). The general rule for position is that adjectives go after the noun: un libro interesante, una casa grande. However, numbers, possessive adjectives, and certain short, high-frequency adjectives like ‘bueno/buen’ and ‘malo/mal’ often come before the noun.

关于形容词位置,一般规则是形容词放在名词之后:un libro interesante(一本有趣的书),una casa grande(一幢大房子)。但是,数词、物主形容词以及某些常用的短小形容词(如 bueno/buen 和 malo/mal)常放在名词之前。

11. Forming Questions and Negatives | 疑问句与否定句的构成

One of the easiest aspects of Spanish is that questions and negatives do not require auxiliary verbs like ‘do’ or ‘does’. To turn a statement into a yes/no question, you simply raise your intonation at the end, or swap the subject and verb. Compare: Tú hablas español (You speak Spanish) → ¿Hablas tú español? or simply ¿Tú hablas español? with a questioning tone. For information questions, use the question words: ¿Qué? (What?), ¿Quién? (Who?), ¿Cómo? (How?), ¿Dónde? (Where?), ¿Cuándo? (When?), ¿Por qué? (Why?), ¿Cuál? (Which?). All question words carry a written accent. To make a sentence negative, just place ‘no’ before the verb: No hablo francés (I do not speak French), Ellos no están aquí (They are not here). When answering a negative question, ‘no’ is often repeated: ¿No tienes boli? — No, no tengo.

要构成否定句,只要在动词前加“no”即可:No hablo francés(我不说法语),Ellos no están aquí(他们不在这里)。回答否定问句时,通常会重复“no”:¿No tienes boli? — No, no tengo。(你没有圆珠笔吗?——没有,我没有。)

12. Numbers, Dates and Time Formulas | 数字、日期与时间表达公式

Numbers 0–30 are the foundation for telling time, giving your age, and stating dates. Core numbers: cero (0), uno (1), dos (2), tres (3), cuatro (4), cinco (5), seis (6), siete (7), ocho (8), nueve (9), diez (10), once (11), doce (12), trece (13), catorce (14), quince (15), dieciséis (16), diecisiete (17), dieciocho (18), diecinueve (19), veinte (20), veintiuno (21), veintidós (22) … treinta (30). For dates, use the formula: Es el + number + de + month. For example, Es el quince de abril (It is April 15th). Note that the first of the month is the exception: Es el primero de mayo. To tell the time, use: Es la una (It is one o’clock) for 1:00, and Son las + number for all other hours: Son las tres (It is three o’clock). Add ‘y cuarto’ for quarter past, ‘y media’ for half past, and ‘menos cuarto’ for quarter to: Son las dos y media (It is half past two), Es la una menos cuarto (It is quarter to one).

数字 0–30 是表达时间、年龄和日期的基石。核心数字:cero(0),uno(1),dos(2),tres(3),cuatro(4),cinco(5),seis(6),siete(7),ocho(8),nueve(9),diez(10),once(11),doce(12),trece(13),catorce(14),quince(15),dieciséis(16),diecisiete(17),dieciocho(18),diecinueve(19),veinte(20),veintiuno(21),veintidós(22)…… treinta(30)。表达日期时使用公式:Es el + 数字 + de + 月份。例如,Es el quince de abril(4 月 15 日)。注意每月第一天是例外:Es el primero de mayo(5 月 1 日)。表达时刻时,1:00 用 Es la una,其他整点用 Son las + 数字:Son las tres(现在是三点)。加上 y cuarto 表示一刻(过),y media 表示半点,menos cuarto 表示差一刻:Son las dos y media(现在是两点半),Es la una menos cuarto(现在是一点差一刻)。
