📚 Common Mistakes and Corrections for Pre-U Edexcel Spanish | Pre-U Edexcel 西班牙语常见误区与纠正方法

Spanish learners at the Pre-U level often make the same predictable errors, many of which stem from direct translation from English or incomplete understanding of grammar rules. This article identifies the most common pitfalls in Edexcel Spanish examinations and provides clear, actionable corrections. Mastering these points will sharpen your accuracy and boost your confidence in both written and spoken tasks.

在学习 Pre-U 阶段西班牙语时,学生经常犯一些相似的错误,这些错误很多源自英语直译或对语法规则理解不透彻。本文梳理了 Edexcel 西班牙语考试中最常见的误区,并给出清晰、可操作的纠正方法。牢牢掌握这些知识点,能够提升表达的准确性,让你在书面和口语表达中都更加自信。

1. The Ser/Estar Dilemma | Ser 与 Estar 的困惑

Many learners struggle to distinguish between “ser” and “estar”, both translating as “to be”. The key is that “ser” describes essential, permanent characteristics (identity, origin, time), while “estar” refers to conditions, locations, and temporary states. A common mistake is saying “Estoy estudiante” instead of “Soy estudiante”.

很多学习者分不清 “ser” 和 “estar”,它们都表示“是”。关键在于 “ser” 用于本质的、持久的特征(身份、来源、时间),而 “estar” 用于状态、位置和暂时的情况。一个常见错误是把“我是学生”说成 “Estoy estudiante”,正确的应该是 “Soy estudiante”。

Another tricky area is adjectives that change meaning depending on the verb. “Soy aburrido” means “I am boring” (personality), while “Estoy aburrido” means “I am bored” (temporary feeling). Similarly, “Es listo” means “He/She is clever”, but “Está listo” means “He/She is ready”.

另一个容易出错的点是形容词随动词改变含义。”Soy aburrido” 意思是“我是个无聊的人”(性格),而 “Estoy aburrido” 意思是“我感到无聊”(暂时的情绪)。同样,”Es listo” 表示“他/她很聪明”,但 “Está listo” 表示“他/她准备好了”。

Remember to use “estar” for progressive actions: “Estoy leyendo” (I am reading), never “Soy leyendo”. Also, for location of people and things, always use “estar”: “Madrid está en España”.

记住,进行时态要用 “estar”: “Estoy leyendo”(我正在读书),绝不能写成 “Soy leyendo”。此外,表示人或事物的位置永远用 “estar”: “Madrid está en España”(马德里在西班牙)。

2. Por vs. Para: Purpose or Reason? | Por 与 Para:目的还是原因?

English “for” translates to both “por” and “para”, but the distinction is crucial. “Para” expresses purpose, destination, deadlines, and recipients. “Por” conveys cause, duration, exchange, and motion through a place. A typical error is “Estudio por aprender” when you mean “I study in order to learn”, which should be “Estudio para aprender”.

英语的 “for” 可以译为 “por” 和 “para”,但二者的区别至关重要。”Para” 表示目的、目的地、截止日期和接收者。”Por” 则传达原因、持续时间、交换以及穿过某处的运动。典型的错误是想表达“我学习是为了学到东西”时写成 “Estudio por aprender”,正确的应为 “Estudio para aprender”。

Use “para” when you can substitute “in order to”: “Salgo temprano para llegar a tiempo” (I leave early in order to arrive on time). Use “por” for reasons: “Llego tarde por el tráfico” (I am late because of the traffic). Also, “gracias por” (thanks for), not “gracias para”.

当可以替换为“为了……”时,用 “para”: “Salgo temprano para llegar a tiempo”(我早出发为了准时到达)。表示原因则用 “por”: “Llego tarde por el tráfico”(因为交通堵塞我迟到了)。另外,表示感谢时用 “gracias por”,而非 “gracias para”。

Be careful with opinion phrases: “Para mí, es importante” (In my opinion, it is important), while “Por mí, no hay problema” (As far as I’m concerned, there is no problem) has a subtle difference. “Por” also appears in passive constructions: “El libro fue escrito por Cervantes”.

注意观点表达中的区别: “Para mí, es importante”(在我看来,这很重要),而 “Por mí, no hay problema”(对我来说,没问题)有细微差异。”Por” 还用于被动结构: “El libro fue escrito por Cervantes”(这本书是塞万提斯写的)。

3. Imperfect vs. Preterite: Ongoing vs. Completed | 未完成过去时与简单过去时:进行中与已完成

English speakers often misuse the two past tenses. The preterite (pretérito) describes completed, one-off actions with a clear start or end: “Ayer fui al cine”. The imperfect (imperfecto) is for ongoing, habitual, or descriptive situations in the past: “Cuando era niño, iba al cine todos los sábados”. A frequent error is using the preterite for background descriptions.

英语使用者经常混淆这两种过去时态。简单过去时(pretérito)描述已完成的、一次性的、有明确起止点的动作: “Ayer fui al cine”(昨天我去了电影院)。未完成过去时(imperfecto)用于过去持续进行、习惯性或描写性的情景: “Cuando era niño, iba al cine todos los sábados”(我小时候,每个周六都去电影院)。一个常见错误是在描写背景时误用了简单过去时。

For interrupted actions, use imperfect for the ongoing action and preterite for the interruption: “Estudiaba cuando sonó el teléfono” (I was studying when the phone rang). Never say “Estudié cuando sonó el teléfono” to express that you were in the middle of studying.

对于被中断的动作,用未完成过去时表示正在进行的动作,用简单过去时表示打断的动作: “Estudiaba cuando sonó el teléfono”(电话响的时候我正在学习)。不要用 “Estudié cuando sonó el teléfono” 来表达你正在学习时被打断,那是错误的。

Memorise time markers: preterite triggers include “ayer”, “anoche”, “el año pasado”, “una vez”. Imperfect triggers: “siempre”, “todos los días”, “mientras”, “antes”. Practise narrating a story: set the scene with imperfect, then report events with preterite.

记住时间标记词:简单过去时的触发词有 “ayer”(昨天)、”anoche”(昨晚)、”el año pasado”(去年)、”una vez”(有一次)。未完成过去时的触发词有 “siempre”(总是)、”todos los días”(每天)、”mientras”(当……的时候)、”antes”(以前)。练习叙事时,先用未完成过去时勾勒背景,再用简单过去时交代事件。

4. The Subjunctive Mood: Fear and Doubt | 虚拟式:恐惧与怀疑

The subjunctive is one of the biggest obstacles for English-speaking learners because it rarely has a direct equivalent. It is used to express wishes, doubt, emotion, and uncertainty. A very common mistake is using the indicative after “quiero que”: “Quiero que vienes” should be “Quiero que vengas”.

虚拟式是英语学习者最大的障碍之一,因为英语中很少有直接对应的表达。它用来表达愿望、怀疑、情感和不确定性。一个极其常见的错误是在 “quiero que” 之后使用直陈式: “Quiero que vienes” 应该改为 “Quiero que vengas”(我希望你来)。

Learn the WEIRDO acronym: Wishes, Emotions, Impersonal expressions, Recommendations, Doubt/Denial, and Ojalá. If the main clause expresses any of these and the subject changes, you need the subjunctive in the subordinate clause. “Es importante que estudies” (It is important that you study) uses subjunctive, not “Es importante que estudias”.

记住 WEIRDO 助记法:愿望(Wishes)、情绪(Emotions)、非人称表达(Impersonal expressions)、建议(Recommendations)、怀疑/否定(Doubt/Denial)和 Ojalá。如果主句表达以上任何一类,并且主语发生变化,从句就需要虚拟式。 “Es importante que estudies”(你学习是很重要的)就要用虚拟式,而不是 “Es importante que estudias”。

Another pitfall is forgetting the subjunctive in adverbial clauses that refer to the future or hypothetical situations, such as “cuando”, “hasta que”, “a menos que”. “Te llamaré cuando llegue” (I will call you when I arrive) requires subjunctive “llegue”, not indicative “llega”.

另一个陷阱是在指向未来或假设性情况的状语从句中忘记使用虚拟式,例如 “cuando”(当……时)、”hasta que”(直到……)、”a menos que”(除非)。 “Te llamaré cuando llegue”(我到达时给你打电话)需要用虚拟式 “llegue”,而不是直陈式 “llega”。

5. Gendered Nouns: Not Just -o and -a | 名词阴阳性:不仅仅是 -o 和 -a

A persistent error is assuming that all nouns ending in -o are masculine and all nouns ending in -a are feminine. While that is a good starting point, there are many exceptions and patterns. “El problema”, “el tema”, “el día” are masculine despite ending in -a. “La mano”, “la foto” (short for fotografía) are feminine.

一个顽固的错误是以为所有以 -o 结尾的名词都是阳性,所有以 -a 结尾的都是阴性。虽然这是个不错的起点,但存在许多例外与规律。”El problema”(问题)、”el tema”(主题)、”el día”(天)尽管以 -a 结尾却是阳性。”La mano”(手)、”la foto”(照片,是 fotografía 的缩写)则是阴性。

Nouns ending in -ción, -sión, -dad, -tad, -tud are almost always feminine: “la canción”, “la decisión”, “la ciudad”, “la libertad”, “la actitud”. Words ending in -ma, -pa, -ta of Greek origin are usually masculine: “el drama”, “el mapa”, “el cometa”.

以 -ción, -sión, -dad, -tad, -tud 结尾的名词几乎总是阴性: “la canción”(歌曲)、”la decisión”(决定)、”la ciudad”(城市)、”la libertad”(自由)、”la actitud”(态度)。来自希腊语、以 -ma, -pa, -ta 结尾的词通常是阳性: “el drama”(戏剧)、”el mapa”(地图)、”el cometa”(彗星)。

When you learn a new noun, always memorise it with its article “el” or “la”. Adjective agreement must follow, so “el problema grave” (serious problem), not “la problema grave”. Use colour-coding in your notes to reinforce gender patterns.

学习新名词时,一定要连同冠词 “el” 或 “la” 一起记忆。形容词必须保持性数一致,因此要说 “el problema grave”(严重的问题),而不是 “la problema grave”。在笔记中用不同颜色标注,帮助强化阴阳性的规律。

6. Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns: Lo, La, Le | 直接与间接宾语代词:Lo, La, Le

Object pronouns cause frequent confusion, especially when both appear in the same sentence. Direct object pronouns (lo, la, los, las) replace the thing directly receiving the action. Indirect object pronouns (le, les) replace the person receiving the action. A classic mistake is mixing them up: “La dije” (I told her) is wrong; it must be “Le dije”.

宾语代词容易造成混淆,尤其是当两者同时出现在句中时。直接宾语代词 (lo, la, los, las) 替换动作的直接承受者。间接宾语代词 (le, les) 替换动作的接收者。一个典型错误是混用两者: “La dije”(我告诉她)是错误的;正确的是 “Le dije”。

When both pronouns are used, the indirect comes first, and “le/les” changes to “se” before “lo/la/los/las”: “Se lo di” (I gave it to him/her/them). Learners often incorrectly say “Le lo di” or keep “le” instead of changing to “se”.

当两个代词同时使用时,间接代词在前,而且 “le/les” 在 “lo/la/los/las” 之前时要变成 “se”: “Se lo di”(我把它给了他/她/他们)。学习者们经常错误地说成 “Le lo di” 或者忘记把 “le” 改成 “se”。

Pay attention to “gustar”-type verbs. “I like coffee” is “Me gusta el café”, literally “Coffee is pleasing to me”. The indirect object “me” is not the subject. So “Le gustan los libros” (He/She likes books), not “Le gusta los libros”. The verb agrees with the thing liked, not the person.

注意“gustar”这类动词的用法。 “I like coffee” 要说成 “Me gusta el café”,字面意思是“咖啡令我愉悦”。间接宾语 “me” 并不是主语。因此 “Le gustan los libros”(他/她喜欢书),动词与所喜欢的事物保持一致,而不是那个喜欢的人,不能说成 “Le gusta los libros”。

7. Pronunciation Pitfalls: B/V and R/RR | 发音陷阱:B/V 与 R/RR

In most Spanish dialects, “b” and “v” are pronounced identically as a bilabial sound [b] at the start of a phrase or after a nasal, and as a softer approximant [β] between vowels. The spelling difference is orthographical, not phonetic. A common error is over-emphasising an English “v” sound with teeth on lip, which sounds foreign. “Vino” and “bino” (if it existed) would sound the same.

在大多数西班牙语方言中,”b” 和 “v” 的发音相同,在句首或鼻音之后发双唇音 [b],在元音之间则发较软的近似音 [β]。拼写上的区别是正字法层面的,不体现在发音上。一个常见错误是过分用力地发出英语里的唇齿音 “v”,这听起来很不地道。”Vino” 和 “bino”(如果存在的话)发音会是一样的。

The single “r” at the beginning of a word or after “l”, “n”, “s” is a strong trill, as in “rojo” and “alrededor”. The single “r” between vowels is a tap, as in “pero” (but). The double “rr” is always a strong trill. Confusing “pero” (but) and “perro” (dog) can change meaning entirely. Practise by exaggerating the trill with your tongue against the alveolar ridge.

单写的 “r” 在词首或出现在 “l”、”n”、”s” 之后时发大舌颤音,如 “rojo”(红色)和 “alrededor”(周围)。元音之间的单 “r” 是闪音,如 “pero”(但是)。双写的 “rr” 永远是大舌颤音。把 “pero”(但是)和 “perro”(狗)混淆会完全改变意思。练习时可夸张地用舌尖抵住齿龈震动,感受发颤音的位置。

Also, silent “h” often trips up students who try to pronounce it. “Hola” is simply pronounced “ola”. The letter “h” is never pronounced in modern Spanish. Drop the aspiration completely.

此外,学生常常因为试图发出字母 “h” 的音而犯错。”Hola” 直接读作 “ola”。现代西班牙语中 “h” 永远不发音。要完全省略送气。

8. Accent Marks Change Meaning | 重音符号改变含义

Accent marks in Spanish are not optional decorations; they indicate stress and, crucially, distinguish between words that would otherwise be identical. “Si” (if) versus “sí” (yes), “el” (the) versus “él” (he), “tu” (your) versus “tú” (you) are just a few examples. Missing an accent can change the grammatical function or meaning entirely.

西班牙语中的重音符号并非可有可无的装饰;它们标示重读位置,更重要的是可以区分原本拼写相同的单词。”Si”(如果)与 “sí”(是的),”el”(这个,冠词)与 “él”(他),”tu”(你的)与 “tú”(你)只是几个例子。漏写重音符号可能彻底改变语法功能或语义。

Interrogative words always carry an accent: “¿Qué quieres?” (What do you want?), but “El libro que leo” (The book that I am reading). The lack of accent on “que” signals it is a relative pronoun, not a question word. Similarly, “¿Cuándo llegas?” vs. “Cuando llegue, te llamo”.

疑问词永远带重音: “¿Qué quieres?”(你想要什么?),但 “El libro que leo”(我正在读的那本书)。”que” 上无重音表明它是关系代词,不是疑问词。同样, “¿Cuándo llegas?”(你什么时候到?)对比 “Cuando llegue, te llamo”(当我到的时候,给你打电话)。

Demonstrative pronouns used to carry accents to distinguish from demonstrative adjectives, but the modern RAE recommendation is to omit them unless there is ambiguity. “Este libro” (this book) and “Éste es mío” (This one is mine) can now simply be “Este es mío”. However, in Edexcel exams, both are accepted; just be consistent.

指示代词过去常带重音以区别于指示形容词,不过现代西班牙皇家学院建议除非有歧义否则省略。”Este libro”(这本书)和 “Éste es mío”(这个是我的)现在可以写成 “Este es mío”。在 Edexcel 考试中,两种写法都接受,但请保持一致。

9. Irregular Verb Conjugations: Common Patterns | 不规则动词变位:常见模式

Irregular verbs intimidate many students, but they often follow patterns. Stem-changing verbs like “pensar” (e>ie) and “dormir” (o>ue) are regular in the endings but change the stem in all forms except “nosotros” and “vosotros”: “pienso, piensas, piensa, pensamos, pensáis, piensan”. A common error is applying the change to nosotros: “piensamos” is incorrect.

不规则动词让很多学生望而生畏,但它们往往遵循某些模式。词干变化动词如 “pensar” (e>ie) 和 “dormir” (o>ue) 的词尾规则变化,但在除 “nosotros” 和 “vosotros” 外的所有人称上词干发生变化: “pienso, piensas, piensa, pensamos, pensáis, piensan”。一个常见错误是把词干变化也用到 nosotros 上: “piensamos” 是不对的。

The preterite tense has many irregulars, but grouping them helps. “Ir” and “ser” share the same irregular preterite: fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, fuisteis, fueron. Context tells them apart. Verbs like “andar” (anduve), “tener” (tuve), “estar” (estuve) all share similar irregular stems and endings with -e, -iste, -o, -imos, -isteis, -ieron/-eron.

简单过去时有许多不规则动词,但分组记忆很有帮助。”Ir” 和 “ser” 的不规则简单过去式相同: fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, fuisteis, fueron。根据上下文区分它们。像 “andar”(anduve)、”tener”(tuve)、”estar”(estuve)等动词,都有类似的不规则词干和词尾 -e, -iste, -o, -imos, -isteis, -ieron/-eron。

Do not forget the accent on the first and third person singular of regular preterite verbs: “hablé”, “comió”, “viví”. Without the accent, “hable” could be the subjunctive form and cause confusion. Always check for written accents in past tense conjugations.

不要忘记简单过去时规则动词第一人称和第三人称单数上的重音: “hablé”(我说话)、”comió”(他/她吃)、”viví”(我生活)。如果没有重音, “hable” 可能被误认作虚拟式,造成混乱。在书写过去时变位时务必检查重音符号。

10. False Friends between Spanish and English | 西班牙语与英语中的假朋友

False friends are words that look similar in two languages but have different meanings. Relying on them can lead to embarrassing or nonsense sentences. “Embarazada” does not mean “embarrassed”; it means “pregnant”. “Estoy embarazada” is not “I am embarrassed” but “I am pregnant”. “Constipado” means “a cold”, not “constipated”.

假朋友是指两种语言中外形相似但含义不同的单词。依赖假朋友会导致尴尬或无法理解的句子。”Embarazada” 不是“尴尬的”,而是“怀孕的”。”Estoy embarazada” 不是“我感到尴尬”,而是“我怀孕了”。”Constipado” 意思是“感冒”,不是“便秘”。

“Actualmente” means “currently” or “at present”, never “actually”. To say “actually”, use “en realidad” or “realmente”. “Sensible” in Spanish means “sensitive”, while “sensato” means “sensible”. “Lectura” is “reading”, not “lecture”; a lecture is “una conferencia”.

“Actualmente” 意思是“当前”或“目前”,绝不是 “actually”(实际上)。要表达“实际上”,请用 “en realidad” 或 “realmente”。西班牙语中的 “sensible” 意思是“敏感的”,而“理智的、明智的”是 “sensato”。”Lectura” 是“阅读”,不是“讲座”;讲座是 “una conferencia”。

Make a list of the most dangerous false friends for your speaking and writing exam topics. For example, “carpeta” means “folder”, not “carpet” (alfombra). “Éxito” means “success”, not “exit” (salida). Review them before the exam to avoid costly mistakes.

把口语和写作考试话题中最危险的假朋友列成清单。比如,”carpeta” 是“文件夹”,不是“地毯”(地毯是 “alfombra”)。”Éxito” 是“成功”,不是“出口”(出口是 “salida”)。考前重看一遍,避免代价高昂的错误。
